Responsible for the treatment of patients with sensory or motor deficits which mobility or functional performance of gross motor activities. Performs the initial evaluation of the patient amp; provides follow up treatment amp; feedback to the staff therapist to effectively plan for discharge. Serves as a member of the Rehabilitation Dept amp; is an integral component of the interdisciplinary medical team that strives to return the patient to his/her highest level of functional independence. Treats all patients on assigned rotations, in addition to providing cross coverage of the department's other rotations and the Rehabilitation Division's other locations/sites, as need dictates. This position works under the direct supervision of the team leader. Position located at University Hospitals. Minimum Education Required Minimum Qualifications Completion of approved education curriculum as a physical therapy assistant State of Ohio licensure Maintains state licensure (meeting mandatory CE requirements) Demonstrates competence in clinical and interpersonal skills to meet essential job functions. Meets mandatory health and educational surveillance requirements. The staff PT performs the initial evaluation of the assigned patient and the LPTA is a member of the Rehabilitation Department and is an integral component of the interdisciplinary medical team that strives to return the patient to his/her highest level of functional independence. Position Summary The staff physical therapy assistant treats all patients of assigned rotations, in addition to providing cross coverage of the departments other rotations and the Rehabilitation Divisions other locations/sites as need dictates. This position works under the direct supervision of the Clinical Manager. Duties and Responsibilities Possesses general background knowledge of disease processes and effects of mobility/strength/endurance. Must also possess knowledge and skills in the treatment of specific surgical and medical diagnoses.
