JOB TITLE: Tax Accountant

SUMMARY: Work with Tax Accountant and Finance team in the accurate preparation and filing of multiple companies' local tax returns, payments, and other tax related reports. Determine tax savings and recommend strategies. Ensure compliance with current and impending changes in municipal, state, and federal tax laws. Provide updates to policies and strategies.

Annual Salary- $75,000- $85,000 based on interview and experience.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Prepare tax schedules, returns, payments, and reports.
  • Maintain company tax data.
  • Find and provide opportunities for process improvements in company tax procedures.
  • Assist in developing tax return calendar and coordinate timing.
  • Assess and research tax issues to identify solutions.
  • Ensure effective control procedures over all aspects of the tax process.
  • Support tax, bank, financial, and governmental audits by preparing responses, creating schedules, etc.
  • Provide support on special tax related projects.
  • Advise management on tax law developments, communicate the effects, and create strategies to capitalize on changes.
  • Prepare local and state tax returns and tax projections.
  • Support the monthly close process and consolidation.
  • Advise management on strategic tax planning.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
  • Ability to partner across teams and functions and influence across boundaries.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • This job has no supervisory responsibilities.


QUALIFICATIONS:



  • 5+ years of experience as a tax accountant or similar role in accounting or finance.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
  • Current CPA license a plus.
  • Federal government contract experience a plus.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills.
  • Must be proficient with the following software/tools:

    • Strong skills and experience with Word, Outlook, Excel
    • Experience with ERP systems, Costpoint a plus
    • Familiarity with tax programs.




PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:



  • Primarily in an office environment.
  • Will be expected to travel as needed to company sites and meetings.
  • Periodic weekend or evening work is expected.
