Minimum Qualifications
Requires at least a baccalaureate degree in the field. Please contact your Human Resources office for an evaluation of education/experience in lieu of the required minimum qualifications.
Preferred Qualifications
3-5 years' experience in banquets and catering. Strong oral communication skills.
Ability to oversee and lead projects. Ability to lead and manage a team of students and
staff.
Position Summary
This position serves as the head of the Catering Services Department within the Food & Beverage Division of the Georgia Center for Continuing Education & Hotel. Thi individual will oversee all off-premise catering operations, managing the planning, execution, and delivery of high-quality catering services for events held outside the Georgia Center. This role involves leading and managing a team responsible for off-site events, working closely with the culinary and banquets teams to ensure seamless coordination and exceptional service. The Manager of Catering Services will collaborate with clients to develop tailored catering solutions, manage the budget and financial performance for off-premise events, and ensure that all events meet or exceed client expectations. This position will also be responsible for developing and maintaining operational standards, training programs, and systems to enhance team performance and ensure consistent service quality. This individual will take a hands-on approach in executing events and may also assist with special events hosted by the Office of Special Events as needed. The role requires a dynamic leader who can balance the operational, financial, and client relationship aspects of catering services while maintaining the highest standards of service.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies

  • Considerable knowledge of all menus, their preparation, and service expectations.
  • Considerable knowledge of sanitary practices and health hazards relating to food preparation and service.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of food and beverage preparations; service standards; guest relations and etiquette.
  • Knowledge of all applicable federal, state, and local health safety regulations.
  • Plan work schedules, assign personnel, and supervise the work of subordinates in a manner conducive to full performance while maintaining morale.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and patrons.
  • Read and interpret safety rules and operating instructions.
  • Communicate ideas to employees and respond to routine requests for information.
