SUMMARY The Quality Systems Specialist provides Quality System expertise to the organization and ensures compliance to AS9100, ISO 9001, and other applicable standards and regulations by supporting interpretation of regulations and leading gap analysis and activities to implement improvements. This position works directly with operating entities to provide oversight for the development and maintenance of quality programs, systems, processes and procedures that ensure compliance with policies and that the performance and manufacturing quality conform to established internal and external standards, regulations and guidelines. In addition, this role leads audit and inspection preparation, resolution of audit and inspection findings and liaises with auditing groups and inspectors through all stages of the audits. This position also monitors results, recommends corrective actions as appropriate and ensures timely resolution and closure of CAPA and Audit findings. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES Provides expertise and guidance in interpreting policies, standards, regulatory and/or governmental requirements to assure compliance Maintains documents in the management system (MS) in accordance with defined systems and procedures and based on documents / information provided from document owners: ensures complete document information and transfers documents into MS documentation system Monitors document expiries and timely update Updates existing MS documents Distributes notifications on MS document updates Develops, maintains, communicates and trains on the document management and record control processes (includes Policy, Procedure, Work Instructions, Templates, Training Material, Improvement and Correction, Communication of changes) Ensures documents comply with policies, procedures, regulations, standards, and corporate requirements and works with document owners to revise documentation where needed Ensures documents in the MS are reviewed periodically for appropriateness and suitability and notifies document owners of need to review documents Supports, maintains, communicates and trains on the document management and storage system tool Ensures documents and records are controlled and released according to Benchmark policy and procedure including updating BenchConnect intranet pages (SharePoint) Assists in the preparation of new documents, records and control systems Identifies, stores, controls and retains internal and external documents and electronic files in accordance with regulatory and quality system requirements Implements a regular Quality Audit program, maintaining current procedures and making recommendations for enhancements as appropriate, such as ISO 9001:2015, AS9100:2016, ISO 14001:2015, and ANSI ESD S20.20. Provides work direction to site Auditors and determine manpower requirements for audit areas and training needs Compiles and measures audit results so that progress towards continuous improvement can be assessed Works with functional groups to continuously improve business processes and drive process compliance Interfaces with support groups to highlight areas that could assist in improving process compliance Ensures a high level of internal and external customer service. Investigate root cause and take corrective action for customer issues and complaints relating to quality in a timely manner Formulates documents and maintains quality control standards and on-going quality control objectives, including International Organization of Standards (ISO) certifications Provides, and oversees inspection activity for product throughout production cycle. Applies Benchmark Quality Management tools (such as AssurX, PowerBI Dashboards, etc.) and approaches to analytical and reporting processes Maintains active role on internal continuous improvement teams Designs, develops and implements MS training programs ensuring employees are trained on the MS as it applies to their role QUALIFICATIONS Excellent written and verbal communication skills Effective interpersonal skills Effective multitasking skills and the ability to take on additional responsibilities as required including learning new skills Effective organization and prioritization skills Demonstrate high attention to detail Ability to work with diverse groups Demonstrates discretion, confidentiality, independent judgment and professionalism. Understanding of and ability to use continuous improvement tools Strong customer service and client focus Working knowledge of productivity tools, including Microsoft Office products and Teams conferencing software 4-year degree or equivalent combination of education and experience as approved by executive management 2+ years of basic regulatory experience in Aerospace and Defense Ability to interpret customer and Benchmark procedures, drawings and instructions Ability to support an all shift production atmosphere Ability to work overtime as needed Certified in internal/external auditing with a focus on ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, AS9100:2016, and ANSI ESD S20.20. Certified (ASQ certifications) in the following, preferred: CQA, CMQ/OE, CQE, CQT, CQPA, CQIA Knowledge/Experience with the Following: Lean/Six Sigma methodologies, Statistical Process Control (SPC), Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA), Root Cause Analysis, Problem Solving, Quality Management System (QMS), Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), New Product Introduction (NPI), 6S, Kaizen
