Reporting to the Manager of ESG Reporting and Compliance, the ESG Reporting and Compliance Principal will be a strategic and critical thinker with strong instincts and an endless appetite for information, the ESG Reporting and Compliance Principal shapes and coordinates our ESG roadmap and drives its successful execution through cross-functional partnership. With a keen eye for detail and strong business acumen, this role will be responsible for centralizing ESG disclosures to support all external reporting. This individual will build strong relationships with global and cross-functional teams to ensure that FedEx's governance, strategies, policies, processes, controls and disclosures meet emerging compliance requirements, align with voluntary and regulatory reporting standards, and are consistent across all external requirements. This person will act as an enterprise expert to the FedEx approach to compliance and communicate necessary business change across its global audience.

Essential Functions

  • Serves as a subject matter expert on global ESG reporting matters and ensures that reporting is aligned to the requirements of various regulations (including SEC, CSRD) and monitoring associated trends
  • Orchestrates and drafts ESG disclosures across multiple regulatory requirements to ensure consistency
  • Leads benchmarking to identify ESG reporting best practices and improvement opportunities
  • Prepares ESG reporting-related presentations and other documents for management, board of directors, etc.
  • Establishes a governance and control framework that complies with relevant ESG reporting standards and regulations, in order to ensure reporting integrity and assurance and comply with external assurance expectations
  • Implements and maintains an ESG internal control program's components, including understanding and mapping of processes, input assessment, data capture, identifying risks and controls, evaluating the processes for control readiness, executing the required changes, and communicating controls framework requirements and control best-practices to data stewards
  • Coordinates with internal and external auditors in their review, oversight, and assurance of ESG reporting, including implementation of remediation actions
  • Monitors changes to relevant ESG reporting regulations, standards, and disclosure requirements through regulatory monitoring governance structure, communicate information to relevant stakeholders, and implement required changes to accounting/reporting policies, practices, and processes

Minimum Education

  • Bachelor's Degree/equivalent in business, accounting, finance, sustainability or a similar discipline. Advanced degree preferred.

Minimum Experience

  • Seven (7) years professional experience in SOX compliance, sustainability and ESG disclosures, financial reporting, or auditing and assurance or related area.

Knowledge, skills and abilities

  • Demonstrated leadership and critical thinking abilities.

  • Strong analytical, written, communication and program management skills.

  • Strong human relations, organizational/time management, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to navigate uncertainty, work in a fast-paced environment and complete deliverables within established deadlines.

Preferred:

  • Command of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) along with financial & ESG compliance requirements (SEC, CA, CSRD, ISSB).

  • Familiarity with mandatory and voluntary reporting regulations and standards, (ESRS/IFRS, GRI, SASB), frameworks (COSO, TCFD) and third-party ratings (ISS, S&P, Sustainalytics, MSCI).

  • Financial or sustainability certifications (CPA, CFA, CSP, GRI, SASB)

Pay Transparency: This compensation range is provided as a reasonable estimate of the current starting salary range for this role across all potential locations. If this opportunity includes multiple job levels, the salary : information represents the job level minimum and the job level maximum. Actual starting pay would be determined by experience relative to the job, market level, pay at the location for this job and other job-related factors permitted by law. An employee may be eligible for additional pay, premiums, or bonus potential. The Company offers eligible employees health, vision and dental insurance, retirement, and tuition reimbursement.

Pay: Pay Transparency Posting Range Ex: U.S. Pay Range: $6,425.27/month - $14,777.07/month

Additional Details: This position will be hybrid, open domicile, within a reasonable commutable distance from a specific FedEx office location. Employees must be onsite as directed by leadership but allows team members flexibility to work from home otherwise.
