Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking a Unified Communications Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. The ideal candidate will support the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). This individual will support our government customer's diverse communications platforms (Video Conferencing, Conference Room Video Teleconference Communications, Voice Over Internet Protocol, Voicemail, and Enterprise Content Deliver)y. The Unified Communications infrastructure is built predominantly on Cisco's communication equipment and applications.

Day to Day Responsibilities:

    Work with the system engineering team and various stakeholders to elicit customer requirements and document functional and system requirements
  • Help define and communicate architectural guidelines for unified communications systems architecture and design
  • Design unified communications solutions using industry standard design patterns and best practices to improve maintainability, flexibility, performance, security, and availability
  • Design system integration plans to include system descriptions and topology diagrams
  • Write implementation plans and briefing these plans to stakeholders and reviewers
  • Develop and document test plans to ensure a low-risk implementation of converged unified communication systems
  • Research, evaluate, and recommend tools and technologies to support an integrated unified communications environment
  • Develop and document maintenance plans that provide operational resources the ability to monitor system performance, manage the unified communications systems, and respond to user requests
  • Communicate with customer status of environment, address any concerns, receive direction, and make recommendations for the betterment of the unified communications system
  • Transition standalone video teleconferencing (VTC) systems using Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) telecommunications to converged Enterprise IP VTC

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree and 0 years' experience or Associate degree and 2 years' experience or HS diploma/equivalent and 4 years' experience
  • U.S. Citizenship required; Must have the ability to obtain a DHS Entrance on Duty (EOD) clearance
  • Experience with unified communications infrastructure
  • Knowledge of Voice Over IP (VoIP), Video Teleconferencing Systems (VTC), Call Centers, and integration of collaboration systems into Microsoft Teams
  • Knowledge of cloud based unified communications and systems
  • Knowledge of transitioning legacy PBX voice solution to converged Enterprise VoIP
  • ITIL Foundations certification within 30 days of hiring

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Session Border Controllers to integrate legacy voice services with MS Teams.
  • Knowledge of STIG remediation and compliance to include patching.
  • Experience in a Cisco network environment to include knowledge of routing, switching, and firewalls to allow collaboration IP addresses and communication protocols while maintaining network security.
  • Cisco CCNA-Voice and or associated Cisco certifications
  • Effective Communication skills - verbal and written
  • Problem analysis and problem solving skills
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to multitask in a stressful environment

Target Salary Range

$30,000 - $48,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
