Cognizant Technology Solutions is looking for a Senior Mainframe Developer to join the team of IT professionals in a role. If you meet our background requirements and skills and are in search of an opportunity with these skills and expertise, here is the opportunity for you!

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and maintenance of mainframe applications using COBOL to ensure high performance and reliability.
  • Be responsible for the design coding testing and debugging of mainframe applications to meet business requirements.
  • Assist junior developers by providing technical guidance and mentorship to aid in their professional development.
  • Collaborate with multi-functional teams to capture and analyze requirements ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  • Maintain consistency with coding standards and security guidelines to uphold the integrity of the mainframe systems.
  • Supervise and optimize application performance identifying and resolving any issues to ensure seamless operation.
  • Conduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback to improve code quality and maintainability.
  • Build and update documentation that includes design specifications, user guides, and operational procedures.
  • Participate in project planning and estimation activities providing accurate timelines and resource requirements.
  • Coordinate with partners to prioritize tasks and work ensuring timely and successful project completion.
  • Stay updated with the latest industry trends and advancements in mainframe technologies to drive continuous improvement.
  • Support production environments by fix and resolving issues ensuring minimal downtime and disruption.
  • Collaborate with quality assurance teams to develop and complete test plans ensuring the delivery of high-quality software.

Required Qualifications

  • Possess a solid background in COBOL and mainframe technologies with a demonstrated ability.
  • Demonstrate excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to solve sophisticated issues effectively.
  • Exhibit good communication and social skills to collaborate with multi-functional teams and customers.
  • Have a consistent record of delivering high-quality software solutions within specified timelines.
  • Show proficiency in developing and maintaining user documentation for various audiences.
  • Display a proactive approach to learning and staying updated with industry trends and advancements.
  • Demonstrate the ability to mentor and guide junior developers fostering a collaborative and productive team environment.
  • Possess strong social skills to handle various tasks and priorities optimally.
  • Exhibit a keen attention to detail to ensure the accuracy and reliability of mainframe applications.
  • Have experience in project planning and estimation providing accurate timelines and resource requirements.
  • Demonstrate a dedication to following coding standards and security guidelines.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a hybrid work model.
  • Exhibit a solid understanding of quality assurance processes and the ability to develop and complete test plans.

Salary and Other Compensation:

The annual salary for the position is between $55,350 - $82,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

This position is also eligible for Cognizant's discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant's applicable plans.
