What you'll do:

As the Materials Planner for Utilimaster (A Shyft Brand) based at our facility in Bristol, IN, you will be focused on utilizing established processes such as demand forecasting, inventory and supplier management, material requirement planning, and continuous improvement to ensure the optimal flow of materials from the supplier's facility through delivery.

You will also be instrumental in ensuring that we have an adequate supply of materials flowing throughout our operations and in directing the activities of the production materials flow and inventory control functions.

You will also:

  • Manage assigned parts and suppliers, including all problem resolutions
  • Develop suppliers to ensure improved delivery performance and inventory control
  • Coordinate engineering changes and build schedules with suppliers and production
  • Maximize customer satisfaction while minimizing surpluses
  • Examine MRP on a daily and weekly basis to produce supplier releases
  • Launch, schedule, defer, expedite, and cancel POs to maintain inventory levels
  • Monitor and update supplier lead times for system accuracy
  • Facilitate suppliers' understanding of delivery expectations and materials quantity via reports
  • Proactively confirm delivery and schedules against purchase orders and adjust when necessary
  • Collect shortage reports and tracking firm delivery schedules
  • Obtain realistic delivery dates on shortages and follow up promptly
  • Mitigate the risk of disrupting production by identifying parts shortages in advance
  • Assist with packaging projects by implementing returnable packaging programs
  • Monitor and manage freight and logistics costs
  • Process material requisitions for materials, repair of parts, equipment, and special engineering projects Identify the root causes behind missed deliveries
  • Optimize inventory accuracy with VMI, Kanban cards, or Min/Max systems
  • Partner with Purchasing, Operations, Finance, and the vendor(s) to identify and implement the appropriate inventory levels, order requirements and quantities, and delivery offsets
  • Follow established procedures; initiate and implement improvements

What you need to be successful:

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management or business, OR equivalent materials planning experience
  • 3+ years of materials, logistical, or event
    planning experience (manufacturing environment preferred)
  • A track record of constructing and guiding cross-functional teams
  • A reputation for being versatile, flexible, and attentive to detail within constantly changing priorities
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365
  • A history of effectively handling multiple projects and delivering on time
