POSITION SUMMARY

The Material Coordinator works as part of a team to organize material as it travels to various departments. Responsibilities will also include sorting, loading, and unloading material.

POSITION DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate and expedite flow of material, parts and assemblies
  • Evaluate tooling and determine manufacturing requirements, as required
  • Review factory orders as required
  • Facilitate clear communication among all internal customers
  • Direct the delivery of products from vendors
  • May be required to review factory order to optimize fabrication efficiency in manufacturing.
  • Comply with safety, quality, and productivity requirements and procedures
  • Regular/dependable attendance required
  • Flexibility of work hours including overtime
  • Use of hand tools and machinery is required to maintain equipment and buildings
  • Must be able to work well with little or no supervision
  • Sort, load, and unload material
  • Use scanners and barcoding devices as required
  • Demonstrate personal leadership within area of responsibility
  • Participates in AFS's Continuous Improvement efforts by understanding his/her team's performance and actively implementing and supporting process improvements
  • Ability to rotate to other positions as needed
  • Other duties may be assigned

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred; 0-1 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
  • Communicate effectively in a verbal and a written manner.
  • Basic computer proficiency and accuracy for time/labor entry.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Able to adapt to situations and effectively problem solve
  • Work quickly and accurately.
  • Certified in operating various material handling equipment, forklift and overhead cranes

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position has no supervisory responsibility.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The associate is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The associate is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; risk of electrical shock, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud, requiring hearing protection. Must be willing and able to comply with all plant safety regulations including wearing appropriate PPE when on the production floor

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

Infrequent travel required.
