We are hiring a full-time financial Senior Accountant within the Office of the Chief Financial Officer (OCFO) which is an important role for supporting the finance and accounting operations.

What you'll do:

This is an exciting opportunity to have a high level of impact and work for an organization associated with 16 Nobel Prizes! You may take part, not only in the broad range of accounting activities including: banking, property accounting, internal/external reporting, auditing support, compliance, monthly closes and special projects, but also getting your feet wet in data analysis, synthesizing, and accounting research!

We are seeking a Sr. Accountant (4+ years). You are expected to:



  • Come up with new approaches, perform assignments and make decisions with direction from your supervisor.
  • Complete complex financial statement analysis including responsibility for various general ledger account reconciliations; acting in the capacity as preparer.



Requirements:



  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or business.
  • Minimum of 4 years related experience in accounting and / or finance.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in performing financial functions including: preparation and posting of journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, financial statement analysis, financial report preparation, variance analysis and compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).



Desired knowledge/experience:



  • CPA, audit experience and / or government accounting is a plus, but not required.

Notes:



  • This is a full-time, M-F, exempt from overtime pay (monthly paid), career appointment.
  • Salary for this position will be commensurate with the final candidate's qualification and experience, including skills, knowledge, relevant education, and certifications, and also aligned with the internal peer group. The budgeted annual salary range is $102,000 to $115,000.
  • This position may be subject to a background check. Any convictions will be evaluated to determine if they directly relate to the responsibilities and requirements of the position. Having a conviction history will not automatically disqualify an applicant from being considered for employment.
  • Must live within 150 miles of Berkeley, CA. This role is currently 100% work from home (telework), but may need to come onsite depending on business needs.
