Boston Children's Hospital Trust is the philanthropic resource for the hospital which provides vital funds to support our cutting-edge research, community outreach, patient family programs, and medical education.

This is a great opportunity to engage with the world's top pediatric caregivers and researchers and help grow Boston Children's philanthropic community. The Development Communications Officer will create communications for Trustwide priorities, contributing to the fundraising success of the department. This includes planning and developing content in support of Trust events (invitations, speaker profiles, speaking points, and more), creating resource guides for fundraisers, writing articles, and participating in the production of publications and online materials. This role will work closely with Communications leadership, the Donor Relations team, and gift officers throughout the Trust.

The Development Communications Officer will:

  • Advise gift officers on creative strategy, branding, and message development in conjunction with Communications colleagues.
  • Provide communications support to annual projects, including activities in support of Trust events, giving programs, and major gifts.
  • Create content for Trust publications; ensure content is current, compelling, and effective in motivating a variety of donor audiences.
  • Translate scientific advances into accessible language.
  • Work with writers, photographers, and designers as needed.
  • Execute special projects as requested.

To qualify, you must have:

  • Bachelor's degree and at least 4 years of relevant and progressive professional experience.
  • Work with nonprofit organizations and exposure to fundraising is preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects successfully in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills.
  • Proficiency with PowerPoint and Adobe and willingness to learn new platforms.
