84 Lumber is seeking a Full Time 40-Hr Summer Intern who will work with the Financial Planning & Analysis team and assist in delivering financial planning and analysis that will empower upper-level management with the information needed to make strategic, operational, and tactical decisions. This is a hands-on role that is expected to serve as an introduction to becoming a strategic business partner to the organization's leadership and business functions. This role will expose the intern to advanced excel skills, guided by current FP&A associates, allowing the intern to broaden their current excel exposure and skills. This is a unique opportunity to get involved in a variety of projects and initiatives that involve interaction with leaders and subject matter experts across multiple business units and functional areas. The Summer Intern will assist in a dynamic array of issues often focusing on changes and adjustments to the underlying business. This is accomplished by helping bring quantitative/analytic support to decision-making so that fact-based decisions can be made, and projects can be appropriately managed and tracked in pursuit of company goals. This position is fulfilling to a candidate who has strong analytical skills, system knowledge, data crunching ability, while thinking both strategically and tactically. Responsibilities *Work with the FP&A team to support company financial objectives and initiatives, including quantitative and qualitative analysis, business modeling, business cases, forecasting, etc. *Performs data analysis: Gathers and compiles data used for identifying complex business trends and provides recommendations. *Assist in reporting: Helping to develop and modify financial reports and statements. Creates advanced visualizations of extracted data. *Opportunity to improve existing reports, reporting methods, and other day-to-day functions within the company *Act as a bridge to consolidate information across different functions, supporting the sales, operations and finance teams with Excel and PowerPoint templates to drive financial reporting processes, profitability models, economic models and trend analysis. *Ability to build effective relationships across businesses and functions within a complex organization. *Collaborates on strategic initiatives. Works with key business partners to help complete project objectives and maintain project plans to enable the successful and timely completion of cross-functional initiatives. *Partner with the FP&A team with the intent to improve report content and scorecards to drive actions that leadership should take to positively improve the results. *Assisting in monitoring capital projects against defined objectives and development / validation of support financials. *Final Intern Project: Develop, improve, or modify a recurring report package/process for the Financial Planning and Analysis team. Present the project to high level leadership in the Finance Department and if appropriate the CFO Qualifications *Obtaining a bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or related field requiring application of analytical techniques. |
