Job Description Summary:As a seasoned engineering leader, you will guide the development of our groundbreaking Airborne Phased Array Radar (APAR) development.

Annual Salary Range $126,076 - 185,000

What You Will Do

Here is a brief summary of what one would expect to be generally responsible for in this role.

  • Project Engineering Leadership

    • Responsible for the APAR engineering efforts (internal and external); manages and supervises the APAR engineering team; responsible for ensuring design reviews are accomplished; ensures that the engineering development meets pre-defined requirements. This includes working with project leads, industry/subcontractors, and university collaborators to ensure technical objectives and schedules are being met; leading and directing the effort of engineering disciplines associated with the APAR development, including radar hardware, software, aeronautical, mechanical, and electrical systems; and leading and/or providing support through program gates/milestones such as the preliminary design review (PDR), critical design review (CDR), fabrication, testing, and verification of requirements for the APAR system.

  • Cross-Project Collaboration

    • Supports the Senior Systems Engineer with managing technical project risks, engineering and test/validation documents, and test plans. Reviewing and evaluating engineering documents and test reports. Conducts trade analyses. Reviews and approves significant acquisitions. Reviews and tracks Earned Value (EV) data with the Senior Systems Engineer, Program Manager, and Project Director to determine product trade-offs.

  • Project Representation

    • Presents at and participates in conferences, meetings & workshops as required to support the APAR program. Supports the writing of proposals to secure additional funding for the APAR development

Who We'd Love To Join Our Team

Successful candidates will ensure their application materials speak to the following criteria:

Education & Experience REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering and at least nine years of engineering experience;

  • or a Master's degree in Engineering and at least seven years of experience;

  • or a Ph.D. degree and at least five years of experience;

Education & Experience Desired but Not Required:

  • Master of Science degree in engineering.

  • General understanding of the use of radars in the study of atmospheric science

  • Hands-on experience with antenna testing, including near-field and far-field measurement techniques

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities REQUIRED:

  • Advanced understanding of R&D and operational radar systems

  • Broad technical understanding of cross-disciplines or deep understanding of one discipline.

  • Demonstrated analytical, applied mathematics, and problem-solving skills common to radar/RF engineering.

  • Demonstrated creativity, foresight, and mature engineering judgment in anticipating and solving unprecedented engineering problems.

  • Knowledge of current technical trends.

  • Skill in motivating staff in large projects.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Must work effectively in a team environment with individuals of diverse backgrounds and contribute effectively to problem-solving.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Desired but Not Required:

  • Proven knowledge in the design and development of phased array radar systems.

  • Proven knowledge and experience in phased array calibration techniques.

  • Experienced in recognizing and solving Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) issues, especially on airborne platforms.

  • Proven knowledge of a Fourth Generation Programming Language, e.g., Python, MATLAB, IDL, etc.
