Position Highlights |
The University of Arizona College of Medicine - Phoenix seeks a dynamic and visionary leader to serve as assistant dean of rural health in the Office of Graduate Medical Education.
This position will report to the associate dean of community engagement and serve as a member of the College of Medicine - Phoenix (College) leadership team. It is expected that the candidate will fulfill the responsibilities of a faculty member in an appropriate department, actively participate in clinical care, teaching and/or scholarly work and must qualify for an appointment at the rank of associate or full professor. This position will also report to their department chair for faculty-related duties. Duties & Responsibilities |

- Support recruitment and
retention efforts across rural communities to secure high quality block and longitudinal integrated clerkship capacity that meets educational standards and LCME requirements. - Partner with the associate dean
of community engagement and participate in the identification and development of rural educational sites in strategic alignment with the office of the dean. - Lead all Rural Health
Professions Program (RHPP) activities. - Collaborate with the associate
dean for community engagement, vice dean of GME and chair of the Department of Family Medicine, Community and Preventive Medicine (FCPM) to ensure compliance with all grant funding programs for UME and GME education related to specific programs in this domain. - Support and co-direct the
Longitudinal Integrated Clerkship (LIC) programs and the clinical component of the 3 year curriculum to ensure compliance, educational value, strategic and financial alignment with the school's vision. - Participate in the preparation
and delivery of faculty development sessions at rural and LIC sites.

- Develop, organize, manage and
supervise the CHIP program for student run volunteer community-based activities in Phoenix with support from the Vice Dean for community engagement.

- Serve as an advisor for the
student cohort in the 3-year curriculum/LIC with focus on careers in rural medicine and primary care and the specialty advisor for Family Medicine. - Additional duties as assigned
by the dean.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Knowledge of local and national resources for rural medicine training in undergraduate and graduate medical education.
- Knowledge of teaching principles and evidence-based practices and procedures.
- Knowledge of LCME requirements.
- Equipped with excellent organizational, time management, professionalism and communication skills.
- Exhibit mentoring skills (students, residents
and junior faculty).

Minimum Qualifications |
- Hold an MD, DO or equivalent
degree from an accredited institution. - Have at least five years of
clinical experience - Be board certified in specialty at the time of hire.
- Be licensed to practice medicine in Arizona at the time of hire.
- Have experience with providing
faculty development in educational training/instruction in various formats.
