FULL TIME 40 HOUR POSITION

MUST BE ABLE TO WORK EVENINGS AND WEEKENDS

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Under supervisor of the Manager of Pastoral Care, and according to established policies and procedures of the hospital, the Associate Chaplain provides spiritual and pastoral care to patients and families and participates as a member of the health care team caring for patients, families, and staff. Associate Chaplains routinely visit in-patients each weekday as well as those who request pastoral care while receiving outpatient treatments and procedures

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Introduce and relate self, spiritual care, and related institutional services to patients, families, and interdisciplinary colleagues.

* Administer the Sacraments and perform other religious rituals as requested by patients/family.

* Assess and manage routine and critical care concerns of patients, families and healthcare colleagues.

* Function collaboratively with peers and other interdisciplinary professionals and participate in a holistic approach to patient care.

* Function as a liaison and advocate between patients, family members and staff.

* Prepare, present, or arrange for, appropriate liturgies and religious services in the hospital and peer group settings as needed.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Associates Degree in the field of humanities

Two years of pastoral care or ministry experience in an organized place of worship.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:

None

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's Degree in pastoral care or the humanities
