Scaffold Technician II - Alpine - Field Maintenance Operations

JOB SUMMARY

The Scaffold Technician II is responsible for erecting and dismantling scaffolding of all types and sizes. This crew works both day and night shift. The Scaffold Technician II must be a 3-year apprenticeship scaffolder and be competent in all phases of scaffold erection, modification, demo, and inspection. Must understand the load ratings for the scaffold for the end user. They will work closely with leads and workers from other crafts to plan work. This position is part of a multi-craft group and will be expected to support bolt-up, line lift and various other types of work.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES

* Must demonstrate and promote safe work practices and adhere to company and client safety policies and procedures for work performed, including proper hazard recognition and mitigation of task and accept accountability for safe work practices.

* Participate in all AES and CPAI safety processes.

* Must be familiar with working inside a live Oil & Gas process facility and on active drilling well pads.

* Must have prior experience in leading Scaffold Apprentice Builders.

* Must help plan and execute the erection and dismantling of various types of systems scaffolds.

* Must support crafts including, but not limited to mechanical, piping, structural, insulation, instrumentation, corrosion inspection, facility, and operations.

* Must be able to interpret P&ID, ISO's and Mechanical drawings, and design scaffolds accordingly.

* Must understand the best practice and safe practice uses for working with hand tools, power tools, electric and pneumatic tools.

* Must work in extreme conditions to include heights, heat /cold and remote location.

* Must effectively coordinate personnel, equipment, tools, and material needs to maintain safety and efficiency.

* Must be able to work in confined spaces and wear respirators.

* Must be willing to learn and perform duties outside their normal craft.

* Must ensure crews are conducting their work in a safe manner.

* Ensure that there is good communication taking place.

* Be able and willing to make decisions about daily tasks and give other crew members directions.

* Participate in daily toolbox meetings and in weekly safety meetings.

* Encourage workers to maintain a safe, positive, and productive attitude.

* Be willing to report status of current projects, participate and add input to work related projects.

* Must be willing and able to help crew with line lift procedures.

* Required to prepare and process various types of documentation including permits.

* Must be willing to work up to 18 hour shifts on random occasions.

* Be willing and able to workday shift and night shift as needed and arrive at work on time daily, shifts run from 5:30 to 5:30, on some occasions longer.

* Building "Hooches" is part of this job responsibility.

* Comply with Company and customer policies and procedures.

* Support AES zero-incident safety culture and assume personal accountability and responsibility for safe work practices in all projects, activities, and operations.



REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

* A valid (U.S issued) Driver's License is required.

* A High School Diploma or GED is required.

* The ability to work 80.5 hours a week on a 2x2 rotation is required.

* A North Slope Training Cooperative (NSTC) safety training certification is required.

* A minimum of three (3) years' experience as a Scaffold Technician II or Scaffold Builder II is required.

* A Scaffold Builder Level II certification is required.

* A Scaffold Training Institute (STI) certification is required.

* Completion of OSHA Fall Protection training is required.

* An OSHA Fall Protection certification is required.



PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

* Five (5) or more years' experience working as a Scaffold Technician or Scaffold Builder in a construction or industrial setting, the Oil and Gas or Petrochemical industry, on the North Slope, and/or in an Arctic environment is preferred.

* Strong familiarity with OSHA regulations regarding scaffold safety is preferred.

* Previous experience operating scaffolding equipment such as hoists and pulleys is preferred.

WORKING ON THE NORTH SLOPE

While working on the North Slope of Alaska, your lodging and food will be provided to you. All camps provide warm meals and options to grab a quick lunch or snack from the spike rooms. Rooms vary from single status to shared rooms where your roommate may work the opposite shift. Wi-Fi and Internet are free and available within the camp. Services vary depending upon where you are staying; however, most facilities offer housekeeping, self-serve laundry, commissary, mail, gyms, TV/Theater Room, etc. Each facility will have their own accommodations and policies that will be reviewed upon on-site orientation.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

A candidate must be able to meet the following non-exclusive requirements:
