The Bank of New York Mellon seeks a Senior Vice President, Data Management Engineer for its New York, New York location.

DUTIES: Extend existing data architecture to support increasing user demands and application requirements. Assess and evaluate risk to understand the implications of design decisions and new technologies. Develop database design/code through in-depth understanding of business needs/functionalities and devise, negotiate and defend database schemas and data models. Consult with database administration and client areas and provide solutions in resolving complex issues during the translation to a physical database design. Provide knowledge of enterprise data to create and define internal and external message flows. Evaluate market trends and provide input into the selection of tools and any necessary migration into the company's environment.

REQUIREMENTS: Bachelors degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or a related field, and ten (10) years of experience in the job offered or in a related IT occupation. Ten (10) years of experience must include: Designing and implementing databases for data storage, transformation, and transfer mechanisms for financial applications for straight through processing, reconciliations, and financial regulatory reporting; Transforming business requirements into functional requirements and designing technical solutions by analyzing the regulations and providing functional expertise for implementing mandatory regulatory requirements; Designing logical data flow diagrams, normalizing database tables for storage, and database/query optimization for the various user reports developed in Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services with SQL Server database; Writing queries for data extraction and data analysis using Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, and Vertica database; Utilizing data elements trade data, security master reference data from Bloomberg, and Reuters, and vendor systems for booking loans, deposits, certificate of deposits, commercial papers, and placements; Working with the data warehousing teams to feed as well as extract the financial transaction data as per data governance best practices and create data lineage documentation.; and Analyzing and reviewing existing data contracts and licenses with vendors to identify avenues where an enterprise license would be beneficial rather than individual data license. The Bank of New York Mellon assesses market data to ensure a competitive compensation package for our employees. The base salary/range for this position is expected to be $200,651.00 to $221,000.00 per year at the commencement of employment. Base salary if hired will be determined on an individualized basis, including as to experience and market location, and is only part of the BNY Mellon total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, discretionary bonuses, short and long-term incentive packages, and Company-sponsored benefit programs.

This position is at-will, and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, change in geographic location, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
