Your Role on the Team

Position Summary:

Incumbent will be responsible to build, implement and maintain the Beacon module within the Epic electronic health record. Manages complex Information System projects/products in order to provide solutions that meet UCI Health System's business needs using the Epic solution. Will act as functional lead in providing support for all computer and information systems activities of the Oncology and Infusion Clinics. Maintains Epic applications by facilitating updates, new releases and system enhancements along with issue troubleshooting and resolution. Communicates project and team status to internal and external audiences and participates in system technical and application reviews to determine feasibility, cost and evaluate usefulness for UCI Health System. Assists in recruitment, development and training of existing and new employees.

Required Qualifications:

  • Excellent organizational and planning skills and ability to manage multiple activities and varied deadlines
  • Ability to organize and coordinate multiple complex tasks and provide good responses to deadline requirements while under pressure to meet deadlines

  • Bachelor's degree in health care information technology, computer science, or related area, and or equivalent combination of experience/training.
  • Epic Beacon certification
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience
  • Ability to work independently and to prioritize and manage a relative number of simultaneous requests and to work on tasks which may not be clearly defined
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
  • Ability to apply logical troubleshooting and analysis techniques for the purpose of problem resolution
  • Must be willing to participate in 24 hour on-call rotations as a system duty officer
  • Working knowledge of operations, systems and functions, including planning, design, development, implementation, user support and training, maintenance, quality assurance, and system testing and evaluation.
  • Recent and in-depth knowledge of Pharmacy systems function and usage
  • General knowledge and familiarity with theory and practice of Pharmacy and meds dispensing workflow.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Infusion or Oncology Information system maintenance, including new test builds
  • Experience using / implementing Radiation Oncology related applications (Aria, MIM)
  • Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms
  • Experience with EMR/LIS HL7, Instruments, Middleware, and Point of care interfaces
