Overview

Works with the Chair of Psychiatry, hospital and practice leadership to help management of the Children's Psychiatrists, LLC, a Nationwide Children's Hospital medical group. The Practice Plan Coordinator will be directly involved with physician recruitment, compensation plans and general management functions of a diverse, specialty physician group. In addition, the coordinator will support leadership with physician relations, planning, and other operations/business functions related to the practice plan.

The coordinator will ensure that operations within the practice are consistent with Nationwide Children's Hospital mission and strategic plan.

Responsibilities

    Works closely with the Chief of Psychiatry, practice and hospital administrators to develop and implement plans for the successful management and growth of the physician group.
  • Supports physician recruitment and retention and actively monitors the financial implications of these activities.
  • Assists with all calculating, reporting, and monitoring associated with the Physician Incentive Compensation Plan.
  • Monitors the clinical, academic, and research productivity of the physicians in the practice.
  • Develops and maintains dashboard reporting and provides recommendations to leadership based on detailed analyses of these metrics.
  • Assists with third party contracts for the LLC, including entry into the Novatus contract management system.
  • Assists with tracking the funds flow between the LLC and other entities such as physician practices, the Research Institute of Nationwide Children's Hospital and Nationwide Children's Hospital consistent with all contracts and agreements between these entities.
  • Assists Practice Plan Administrator and BH Business Manager in the development of the annual budget for the LLC. Monitors activity, revenue and expense for the practice.
  • Develops and maintains the necessary knowledge to be adept at utilizing the Qgenda schedule management software.
  • Completes call schedule for the physician practice, in conjunction with the Chief.
  • Responsible for managing, implementing, and tracking physician academic funds and associated reimbursement.
  • Takes a leadership role in the development of departmental policies and procedures.
  • Assists in tracking and monitoring contracts and relationship with OSU.
  • Develops monthly department faculty meeting agenda.
  • Promotes and supports an environment that fosters teamwork, cooperation, respect, diversity and service to patients and families.
  • Initiates, promotes and stimulates the continuous performance improvement process to improve administrative, management and customer outcomes.
  • Interviews, hires, oversees training and development, schedules, assigns work, evaluates, disciplines and discharges subordinate personnel where appropriate.
  • Completes project work and analysis as assigned to ensure the efficient operations of the practice.
  • Takes responsibility for other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE , SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

Education:

  • Requires a level of knowledge equivalent to what is typically obtained by completing a master's degree program in hospital administration, business administration or closely related field.

Experience:

  • Three to five years of progressive experience including opportunities to demonstrate substantial understanding of physician practice management, health care administration, and application of sound management principles and practices.
  • Previous management or leadership experience in a complex setting preferably.
  • Experience in physician practice management is highly desirable.
  • Previous experience in a pediatric or child health related area desirable.

MINIMUM PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to see, hear, speak, read, and perform manual tasks with or without accommodation and care for oneself, with little or no difficulty.
