Who we are looking for:

We are currently searching for a Staff Accountant to be based out of our Harvey, IL facility. Reporting to the Mechanical Pipe & Tube Controller, the Staff Accountant will be responsible for preparing and completing the month end financial close process including journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, corporate supplemental reporting templates, and compliance reporting in accordance with US GAAP.

What you'll do:



  • Prepare month-end journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and monthly close deliverables.
  • Prepare audit support for external and internal audits.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining accounting policies and procedures & performing internal control procedures (SOX) in areas of responsibility.
  • Calculate and process commissions and rebates, ensuring accuracy and timely distribution in accordance with all related agreements.
  • Support fixed asset capital spending and tracking requirements.
  • Establish effective relationships and work cross-functionally across the organization.
  • Drive process improvements and efficiencies for areas of responsibility.
  • Participate in special projects, analysis, and reporting as required by management.


What you'll bring:



  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office, particularly with excel (Vlookup, Pivot Tables).
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Action oriented - enjoys working towards goals/deadlines.
  • Customer focus - dedicated to meeting the operations team expectations and requirements of internal and external customers.


    Within 3 months, you'll:



    • Complete your Atkore immersion program.
    • Understand Atkore policies for accounting and internal controls.
    • Learned fundamentals of JDE and other software related to role.


    Within 6-months, you'll:



    • Independently participate in month-end close activities.
    • Build and prepare general ledger entries and balance sheet reconciliations.
    • Timely distribution of reporting in accordance with deadlines.



    Within 12-months, you'll:



    • Be subject matter expert in your processes and procedures.
    • Be able to provide suggestions for process improvements.
    • Be able to take on more responsibilities as needed.
