What we offer:

* Salary: $52,000 - $55,000

*This position offers flexibility to work from home; however, candidates must be based in the Tampa Bay area and available to come to campus as needed.*

Job Functions:

The Grants Writer researches, writes, and submits grant proposals as assigned. Responsible for performing job duties in accordance with the mission, vision, and values of Metropolitan Ministries.

Essential Responsibilities:

  1. Demonstrates a passion for the mission, vision, and guiding values of Metropolitan Ministries. Works in a cooperative manner with staff, volunteers, and collaborative partners to achieve the Grants team's and organization's goals.
  2. Responsible for conducting the full range of activities required to prepare and submit grant proposals for all funding sources to support programs/projects of Metropolitan Ministries. Writes high-quality grant proposal narratives, budgets, applications and supporting documents.
  3. Collaborates with Programs team to develop program vision and outcomes, and gather information, data, and stories needed for proposals. Collaborates with finance team to write grant budgets. Collaborates with Advancement team on corporate and foundation grants when needed.
  4. Performs prospect research to identify new grant opportunities, including researching grant databases, foundation websites, and government grant portals. Performs best practice research for projects/programs as assigned.
  5. Compiles and updates the organization's data (statistics, outcomes, demographics, etc.) on a regular basis for grant purposes. Updates program narratives on a regular basis for grant purposes.
  6. Updates Raiser's Edge and Monday. Updates cross-functional team when funds are committed. Updates grant projections.
  7. Provides back-up for other Grants team positions when needed.
  8. Responsible for continually expanding personal non-profit and grant writing/management knowledge by staying abreast of changing regulations and trends. Adheres to ethical standards and all government regulations.
  9. Meets personal goals and actively contributes to the achievement of team and organizational targets/goals stated on KPIs. Supports the team in other tasks as assigned.
Requirements

Education and Experience:

Minimum bachelor's degree in related field and 3-5 years of grant writing experience for nonprofit organizations.

Skills Requirements:

Excellent oral and written communication skills. Must be able to communicate effectively in English. Ability to work, occasional evenings and weekends as required. Computer literate with a working knowledge of Raiser's Edge or other donor database tracking software, Web-based research tools, and Microsoft Office. Ability to effectively use computer equipment: monitor, keyboard, mouse, and other computer-related peripherals. Self-motivated and able to multi-task/manage many projects simultaneously, and shift priorities as needed. Must be able to work independently and also be a team player. Works well under pressure and meets deadlines. Must exercise good judgment and discretion, strong ethical character capable of handling confidential information.

Requires understanding of homelessness and poverty, a high degree of maturity, strong inter-personal skills, and the ability to work with low socio-economic and diverse populations facing crisis situations in a professional and diplomatic manner. Knowledge of community resources available to homeless population. Must demonstrate maturity and sensitivity to issues of faith, culture, and other sources of diversity. Ability to work as part of a team within a multi-disciplinary framework.

Physical Requirements:

Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Physical and emotional stamina to handle job-related issues and stress. Some travel required.

Other:
