Job Title: Marketing Communications Specialist

Location(s): Austin, TX

Job Description:


  • We are searching for an event / project specialist to assist our Marketing and Communications Department's Branding and Events Team and also assist with other MarCom projects.
  • The position will report into the Manager of Brand and Events.
  • The event / project specialist should have strong communication skills, both written and oral, as well as strong interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with multiple members associated with the events.
  • Typical events planned by the team are: exhibits at tradeshows (such as SEMICON) and external technical and business conferences, internal conferences, award ceremonies and dinners, senior management meetings, employee meetings amongst others.
  • As multiple events are being planned concurrently, the event specialist should be able to multitask and prioritize across multiple events to meet deadlines and event milestones.
  • Other MarCom projects may include project management assistance for MarCom leadership, Internal/External Communications and Creative/Media teams.


Responsibilities:

Plan and organize internal and external events assigned, both locally and around the U.S. This includes:


  • Creating, implementing and controlling event budgets.
  • Establishing relationships with vendors and suppliers for events. Typical examples would be caterers and venue owners (e.g. hotels, restaurants).
  • Establishing detailed timelines and deadlines for items such as: marketing material preparation, catering arrangements, procurement of needed supplies, and other event specific needs.
  • Executing the plan and providing event data and reports as required.
  • Effective communication with all parties including, clients, vendors, team members, manager, etc. on details and progress of events.
  • Ensure customer (event owner/sponsor) satisfaction by offering needed service and assistance to event participants.
  • Maintain an inventory and directory of marketing giveaways and supplies for the department.


Qualifications and Requirements:


  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Project Management, or other related fields.
  • 2+ years of experience in marketing coordination, event planning, or a similar role.
  • Proven experience in conference and event marketing.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong collaboration and relationship building skills.
  • Ability to multi-task is critical to success
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and marketing software/tools.
  • Familiarity with Monday.com or other program management tools.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and online marketing strategies.
  • Experience with budget management and vendor negotiations.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
  • Some domestic (US) travel required (10-15%).


Pre-populated Position Summary:


  • The Marketing Communications Specialist will manage the tactical execution of marketing communications projects.
  • This position will play a key role in supporting day to day marketing activities including internal and external communication, social media, event logistics, writing, copy editing, web page creation and maintenance, general administrative tasks and project management.


Responsibilities:


  • Plans, develops and implements messaging for promotion of product awareness, business plans and management communications.
  • Partner with management, business units, or sales to leverage message.
  • Develops, enhances or revises marketing collateral for web, print or other media channels.
  • Participates in media placement decisions.
  • May work with outside agencies to build and execute a media strategy.
  • May function as editor for formal business communications.
  • May design and implement measurements to analyze messaging program effectiveness and quantify revenue generated from executed programs.
  • Co-develop and support the implementation of strategic MarCom programs to increase brand visibility, public relations, related business objectives and protect the corporate brand.
  • Support Marcom with writing, reviewing and editing a variety of marketing materials including press releases, news pitches, blogs, social media posts, conferences and special events, and corporate communication materials.
  • Grow social media accounts for global TEL brand, including Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn by creating content and manage publishing and reporting analytics to TEL corporate.


Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's Degree in communications, marketing, public relations, or journalism.
  • 1-2 years of experience in similar field preferred.
  • Excellent communications skills, both written and oral.
  • Creative thinker and willingness to communicate ideas.
  • Avid consumer of world news, related industry news and trends in market.
  • Strong judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office and social media software such as Sprout Social.
  • Expert level experience with Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, and LinkedIn.
  • Ability to produce accurate and high-quality work in a fast-paced environment.
