Maintenance Technician

Your role:

Maintain optimum asset health for all plant equipment, systems, and structures by performing inspections, repairs and modifications to equipment and structures. People who successfully adapt to the work environment, job duties and safety culture of Ardent Mills will be considered for promotion into other roles as they become available.

  • This is a night shift position. Specific hours will be considered upon candidates' availability.

Above all you will be expected to carry out all your activities with safety reliability, integrity, compliance and in a safe, environmentally responsible, and efficient manner.

Your responsibilities:

  • Learn and understand the operation on all process equipment and capable of troubleshooting and repair mechanically.
  • Capable of reading simple wiring diagrams, PLC logic and troubleshooting of common electrical problems.
  • Perform electrical maintenance, such as trouble shoot common motor control center problems and diagnostic tests on motors.
  • Welding and fabrication.
  • Ability to trouble shoot common motor control center problems and diagnostic tests on motors.
  • Safe equipment rigging for lifting or hoisting.
  • Perform preventive maintenance
  • Perform routine plant maintenance
  • Perform electrical maintenance
  • Process work order management
  • Be available for overtime as required for daily and weekend operations of the mill.
  • Actively participate in department meetings and facility teams relating to the improvement of plant safety, quality, innovation, and efficiency.
  • Perform any tasks reasonably assigned.

Essential skills and experience:

  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong reading comprehension, writing, and math skills.
  • Proficient in computer tools including email and spreadsheets.
  • Proficient in English both written and verbally.

Good to have:

  • At least one year operating mobile equipment including forklift, bobcat, or Track Mobile.
  • Knowledge of power transmission and precision maintenance methods
  • Knowledge of all electrical devices, systems, and 3ph motors and controls
  • Knowledge of structural and sheet metal fabrication suitable for flour milling
  • Knowledge of all industry safety, food safety, and environmental regulations and requirements
  • Thorough knowledge of milling process and all associated equipment
  • Knowledge and ability to work with and input data into Microsoft Excel, Word, Access, and CMMS software
  • Successful completion of at least 5 outside maintenance related training courses

Physical requirements and working conditions (with or without reasonable accommodation):

  • Willing and able to work in a plant environment that at times, may be dusty, include temperature extremes, involve climbing, heavy lifting, and other forms of physical exertion.
  • Willing and able to work with wheat products, dust, i.e., no wheat /gluten sensitivity, intolerance and/or allergies.
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Able to work in a dusty environment and wear respiratory protection.
  • Able to climb stairs through the Workday.
  • Able to stand through the entire Workday.

Other considerations:

  • Must be willing to accept accountability and work well in a team.
  • Must be willing and able to work shifts up to 12-hours, weekends, and Holidays.
  • Must be willing to get cross-trained in at least one other position for development within the facility and to provide any relief duties as needed.

Team members must be clean shaven in order to perform tasks where respiratory protection is required and the use of a respirator (including N-95 dust mask) requires a proper seal for adequate protection.
