Compensation Grade: P18Compensation Details: Minimum: $63,887.00 - Maximum: $63,887.00 AnnuallyDepartment (OPH) WADS Information Technology GroupJob Description: Responsibilities The Technical Support Specialist II will troubleshoot and provide technical support to the network infrastructure for Wadsworth systems in support of the Advanced Molecular Detection grant. The incumbent will join a team responsible for the design and documentation of networking infrastructure. The incumbent will also contribute to the design, implementation and maintenance of high availability for core network routers; maintain the Wadsworth wireless network and access point mapping at Wadsworth work sites and perform other appropriate related duties as assigned. This position will be part of a dynamic research and development team serving the Wadsworth Center's mission in the New York State Department of Health's efforts to protect and promote the health of New York's citizens. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Computer Information Technology, Management Information Systems or a related field and two years of experience providing technical support and assistance; OR an Associate's degree in a related field and four years of such experience; OR six years of such experience. A Master's degree in a related field may substitute for one year of experience. Preferred Qualifications At least one year of experience with Cisco routers and switches. Exposure to packet capture and analysis. Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP). At least one year of experience with Meraki Wireless. Experience with high availability networks, network segmentation and network access control. Conditions of Employment Grant funded position. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables, is required. Valid and unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S. is required. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. Travel, up to 10% of the time, will be required. This position requires that the incumbent will report to the official work location and live within commuting distance to the official work location. Telecommuting will be available.
