Full Time, 1st Shift

Description:

• Understands pertinent Laboratory Information System functions and performs downtime procedures effectively

• Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served by the laboratory

• Follows all required laboratory safety, infection control policies and chemical hygiene plan according to OSHA and regulatory requirements

• Evaluates each procedure performed and chooses appropriate investigative techniques as indicated

• Determines acceptability of specimens by performing visual inspections or by recognizing abnormal/unusual results. Documents unacceptable specimens according to policy. Communicates specimen requirements to appropriate personnel

• Identifies patients and specimens correctly from beginning of process to release of results

• Participates in the maintenance and care of the equipment and documents maintenance and problems correctly

• Communicates with all shifts and follows through concerning incomplete work/issues. Notifies the supervisor of problem situations and possible solutions

• Certified or eligible for certification in clinical laboratory science by recognized certifying agencies. Certification must be achieved within one year of hire

• Works effectively as a team member within the department and with other units to provide quality service through communication, cooperation and collaboration

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or related science field

• Certified or eligible for certification in clinical laboratory science by recognized certifying agencies. Certification must be achieved within one year of hire
