HX5 is currently seeking a Thermal Analyst to join our team in Cleveland, Ohio in support of the GEARS contract at NASA Glenn Research Center.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Perform thermal analyses supporting the Electrified Powertrain Flight Demonstration (EPFD) Project. Work will encompass aspects of ground and flight tests of electrified aircraft propulsion technologies being designed to enable a new generation of hybrid electric-powered aircraft. Tasks would include support for thermal system assessments and model development for electrified aircraft; including analyzing thermal management technologies, conducting risk reduction testing, and collaborating on design and test reviews between NASA and industry partners.

EPFD is a collaboration between NASA and industry to demonstrate the capabilities of electrified aircraft propulsion technologies in reducing emissions for future commercial aircraft in the mid-2030s.

Required Skills:

• Ability to design and develop thermal models of NASA project hardware within Thermal Desktop.
• Experience with thermal test design and execution.
• Strong fundamentals in the area of thermal analysis and mechanical design.
• Capable of analyzing and presenting data gathered from thermal models.
• Knowledge of engineering principles as applied to aerospace components and products.
• Team oriented with the ability to work independently as well.

Education/Experience:

Completed at least a bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, from an accredited program, with the following education and experience:

• Bachelor of Science degree with 2 to 5 years of relevant experience
• Master of Science degree with 0 to 3 years of relevant experience

Other Position Requirements:

• Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency is a requirement for this position.
• Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.
