Responsibilities

The Sr Director of Safety Strategy is responsible for developing and leading the organization's long-term safety vision, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives. This role focuses on proactively identifying risks, implementing innovative safety solutions, and fostering a culture of safety across all levels of the company. The Director collaborates with executive leadership and cross-functional leaders of business units to integrate safety into operational strategies and drives the continuous improvement of safety programs to meet regulatory requirements and industry best practices.

  • Build strategic partnerships with external agencies, industry bodies, and thought leaders to stay ahead of emerging safety trends.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to ensure safety standards are integrated into the company's overall strategy and decision-making processes.
  • Drive the implementation of innovative safety solutions and technologies that enhance risk mitigation efforts.
  • Lead the creation of a safety roadmap to promote a safety culture within the organization and foster a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Develop and implement a long-term safety strategy aligned with the company's vision, mission, and values
  • Ensure regulatory safety requirements and industry safety standards are met or exceeded within respective business units and documented best practices
  • Develop and lead the Safety Strategy and Analytics team, providing guidance, support, and professional development to team members.
  • Collaborate with functional safety leaders to Establish and oversee the development of safety policies, procedures, and standards that support a strong safety culture.
  • Ensure the design of and implementation of relevant and effective safety training programs for associates of all levels.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations (OSHA, ISO 45001, etc.).
  • Conduct risk assessments and prioritize actions to address critical safety risks across the organization.
  • Enable proper tools to complete incident investigations, root cause analysis, and the development of corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Evaluate and challenge key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to track safety progress and support continuous improvement efforts.
  • Working with the Risk team, analyze and provide regular reports to executive leadership on safety performance, offering insights and strategic recommendations.
  • Ensure processes that support full compliance with local, state, and federal health and safety regulations.
  • Review internal and external safety audits, evaluating corrective actions where necessary to improve compliance and operational safety.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in safety, business administration, or similar fields.
  • Master's degree in safety, MBA or JD or related technical fields strongly preferred
  • 10+ years of experience in safety management or related roles, with at least 5 years in a strategic leadership capacity.
  • Strong knowledge of safety regulations, standards, and risk management practices (e.g., OSHA, ISO 45001).
  • Demonstrated experience in leading safety strategy development and the successful implementation of company-wide safety initiatives.
  • Excellent leadership, written and verbal communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence at all organizational levels.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with experience using data to drive decision-making.
  • Bottled water industry experience is a plus
  • Computer proficient with knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and Access; Oracle experience a plus
  • Valid Driver's License
