Job Description: Amherst College invites applications for the Leadership Gift Officer position. The Leadership Gift Officer is a full-time, year-round position, and the salary is between $72,000-$78,000/year - commensurate with experience. Given Amherst's distinction as one of the most diverse liberal arts colleges in the country, the successful candidate will demonstrate the ways in which they bring value to and will work towards supporting a broadly diverse community. The Leadership Gift Officer will manage a diverse portfolio of Amherst alumni prospects and donors, with a focus on engaging recent graduates whose philanthropic capacity will grow over time. The LGO will cultivate early giving habits among younger alumni and increase leadership contributions to the Amherst Fund from the College's youngest and highly diverse alumni. They will work with a portfolio of current and future prospects to build the leadership giving pipeline through relationship-building, strategic engagement and fostering a sense of community within the alumni body. The Leadership Gift Officer (LGO) will meet frequently to engage these key members of the Amherst community in conversations leading to increased expendable/Amherst Fund commitments and to six-figure gifts in support of Amherst's top priorities. In the case of alumni from more recent classes, the LGO will lay the foundation for future generosity to Amherst. Reporting to the Senior Major Gift Officer and Director of Leadership Giving, the LGO will be an integral member of the College's Major and Planned Giving, which is composed of the Senior Director of Major & Planned Gifts, LGOs, Senior Major Gift Officers, Development Assistants, and Gift Planning colleagues. The person in this role is expected to work as part of a collaborative and inclusive team including taking appropriate actions to support a diverse workforce and participating in the College's efforts to create a respectful, inclusive, and welcoming work environment. In addition, all advancement staff members are required to support and staff key events such as Reunion, Homecoming, and Family Weekend. These events may require occasional evening and weekend hours.
