JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS: The Kube research team the Department of Engineering Science and Mechanics in the College of Engineering at The Pennsylvania State University is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Postdoctoral Scholar to join our lab in the field of acoustics and ultrasonics. The position will involve experimental and theoretical studies of acoustic fields in microstructured materials with inhomogeneities like porosity. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: The postdoc will be required to conceptualize acoustic measurements, configure acoustic sensors for sending and receiving acoustic fields, analyzing the response of measurements and relating the response to sources like scattering from inhomogeneities. The postdoc is expected to write-up results into reports, conference proceedings, and journal manuscripts as appropriate in addition to sharing findings at conference and workshop settings as appropriate. Requirements: PhD in Acoustics, Physics, Engineering or related field Experience with experimental and theoretical acoustics. Ability to work in a diverse research team and able to problem solve in multifaceted settings and environments. A documented record of high quality research experience in the field of acoustic, physics, engineering or related field through peer-reviewed journal articles. Term This is a term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of re-funding for a subsequent year.
