Job Description

JOB SUMMARY

The Senior Medical Director assumes responsibility for understanding the scientific and clinical aspects of assigned brands in depth, with

more independence and responsibility than the medical director level. They should continue to serve as a key medical resource for both

internal teams and clients: leveraging their scientific knowledge in brand communications, collaborating with cross-functional teams to

represent the medical perspective throughout strategic/creative development, and ensuring scientific/medical accuracy and relevance.

However, at this level there should be less reliance on senior medical guidance, some more independence with client interactions, and

increased awareness/thinking around key strategic issues facing brands. They support/participate in new business pitches as needed, and

seek opportunities to continually develop strategic skill set.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Knowledge/Expertise

Develop depth of understanding for assigned products, related medical areas, and competitors on an ongoing basis

Strategic Skills/Tools

Interact with and, if necessary, lead discussions with internal teams, clients, and HCPs to help meet strategic objectives of the brand.

Demonstrate an understanding of client business objectives and strategic imperatives

Client Relationships

Own and manage the day-to-day client strategy and relationships for multiple accounts

Business Development

Lead medical research and development efforts for new business pitches

JOB DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES

Knowledge/Expertise

- Critically review content developed by others in the agency, including copywriters, art directors, brand strategists, and account leads

- Demonstrate acute attention to detail, with an emphasis on consistency and continuity

- Develop versatility in application of disease state, clinical knowledge, and strategic skill set to all brands, and impart that knowledge to team

leads

Strategic Skills/Tools

- Interact with and, if necessary, lead discussions with internal teams, clients, and HCPs to help meet strategic objectives of the brand

- Develop medical backgrounders to quickly bring the cross-functional team up to speed on key aspects of a product's disease state, patient

population, clinical trial data, and competitive set

- Ensure the "medical hook" of the brand is pulled through when new content is created

- Leverage established working relationship with client medical team to co-develop medical-heavy projects, if needed

- Proactively monitor and identify relevant literature, and provide point of view to internal team and clients

- Carefully plan ahead to ensure tasks are undertaken and time is used efficiently

- Participate in and help develop, if necessary, proprietary workshops

Client Relationships

- Participate in workshops and brand planning with clients and internal teams

- Onboard new team members, including clients new to brand team

Business Development

- Develop medical insights and help craft the immersion section of a pitch presentation in collaboration with account and strategic planning partners

- Identify the "medical hook" for the pitch

- Serve as part of the core pitch team, both internally and during live presentations

The salary range for this position is noted within this job posting. Where an employee or prospective employee is paid within this range will depend on, among other factors, actual ranges for current/former employees in the subject position; market considerations; budgetary considerations; tenure and standing with the company (applicable to current employees); as well as the employee's/applicant's background, pertinent experience, and qualifications.

Salary
$120,000 to $170,000 annually.
