Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Registered Nurse, the Sr. Surgical Technician assists in the preparation, processing, care and maintenance of instruments, supplies and equipment, and functions as a member of the surgical team during operative procedures.

The individual must know aseptic technique and be able to scrub independently in orthopaedic procedures anticipating the needs of the surgeon and have knowledge in the sequencing of the surgical procedures. Works at all UCSF ASC locations including the UCSF Orthopaedic Institute.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $48.32 - $60.17 (Hourly Rate).

Required Qualifications


  • Two years of experience as a Surgical Technician with experience in multi-specialty ambulatory surgery procedures in a dedicated ASC
  • Active American Heart Association CPR Certification
  • High School diploma; or equivalent experience
  • This position requires flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations.

Preferred Qualifications


  • Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technician educational program
  • Surgical Technologist Certification

License/Certification


  • Active American Heart Association CPR Certification
