About the Job

This is a blanket requisition and there may or may not be positions available at this time. These positions are available to persons hold a PhD or Master's degree in areas related to bioproducts and biosystems engineering.

The Department of Bioproducts and Biosystems Engineering at the University of
Minnesota occasionally needs instructors to supplement our faculty offerings and/or expertise of our facuty. Courses to be taught depend on the department's teaching needs. Duties vary according to each position, dependent on subject matter. Many of these courses are engineering orientated such as
Transport in Biological Processes I and II, Bioproducts Separation and
Purification Processes, Biological Process Engineering, or sustainability-related
courses.
These positions are temporary and part time.

This does not constitute a posting for vacancies but establishes a pool of applicants.

Applicants will be selected from this pool on an as-needed basis during the
academic year. Appointments may be renewable based on need, funding, and
performance.

Job Duties/Responsibilities
Teach undergraduate engineering or sustainability courses during the academic
year. Course assignments will be made by the department head based on the
department's needs. These examples do not include all possibleresponsibilities in the work and do not limit the assignment of related responsibilities

* 20% prepare and deliver lectures
* 20% prepare homework assignments, quizzes, and exams
* 15% hold office hours
* 20% assess student work
* 15% supervise the teaching assistants
* 10% manage the administration of the course

* Masters degree is required. The appointee is not required to have the same credentials expected of faculty but must have demonstrated competence to teach the course material.
* The ability to instruct effectively at the undergraduate level to a diverse group of
students

Preferred qualifications
* Experience teaching undergraduate engineering or sustainability courses

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $44,156 - $75,000; depending on education/qualifications/experience.
