JOB DESCRIPTION

Title: Tooling Engineer

Position: Exempt

Location: Riverside, CA

Manager: No

Report to: Tooling Manager

Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am- 5:00pm

Compensation: $100,000 - $110,000 annually D.O.E

SUMMARY OF ROLE

The Tooling Engineer will coordinate the maintenance, repairs, spares and overall quality of tools for the assigned customer base. Works with customer base and internal Westfall-Technik Team Members to ensure tools produce quality products.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Work with management, production, and marketing staff to determine engineering feasibility, cost-effectiveness, and customer demand, for new and existing products.
  • Provide technical customer support for new tooling and engineering changes to existing tools.
  • Assists in scheduling the tooling department's workload.
  • Establishes PM guidelines and directs repair activities for assigned customers.
  • Communicates to customers on existing tooling status weekly if required.
  • Place and manage outside tool repairs and engineering changes.
  • Works with internal departments, Customer Service, Production, Quality, Program Management, Process Engineering, Tool Room, to maintain required tooling repairs.
  • Determine appropriate costs and quote accordingly to customers for all non-Westfall-Technik-related repairs.
  • Coordinates all repair activities.
  • Manage and communicate tool condition to assigned customer base.
  • Manage and communicate spare parts inventory to assigned customer base.



MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS



  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 10 years' experience as a mold maker/engineer.
  • Strong math skills are required. Must have the ability to calculate figures, simple trigonometry, and problems with shop math.
  • Strong background in injection mold engineering, mechanical design, and mold manufacturing.
  • The ability to resolve practical problems associated with injection molds, components, fixtures, and support equipment.
  • Mold making or Engineering certificate preferred.
  • The ability to analyze 2D and 3D mold designs with the use of Solidworks or eDesign.
  • The ability to read blueprints.
  • The ability to use Microsoft Office programs such as Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
