Responsibilities

The Product Validation Manager will lead the direction of product validation teams in Racine, WI in cooperation with the PV Site Leader. The position will be responsible for managing the overall execution of the teams, including balancing & deploying resources as necessary to complete test requests that support IVP (Integrated Validation Plan) timing.

Responsibilities:

    Provides supervision, guidance, development and overall leadership for a team of entry to senior level individual contributor engineers & technicians, focused on product development & validation activities.
  • Responsible for all personnel issues as well as career development & support of all team members including coaching & mentoring engineers & technicians to have individual development plans. (IDPs) Overall PLM responsibility including employee objective setting, routine 1 on 1 discussions, performing & delivering final assessments, & developing improvement plans as needed.
  • Accountable for managing people, setting direction and deploying resources. Results are primarily achieved through the work of others and typically depend on the manager's ability to influence and negotiate with internal or external partners where formal authority is not held.
  • Identifies staffing needs and assists with hiring decisions in cooperation with the PV Site Leader. Works with the Site Leader and other group managers to reallocate internal resources as required.
  • Works together with the PV Site Leader to ensure proper resources are allocated to tasks based on priority; advocates for additional resources through proper planning, scheduling, & basic budgeting of test requests & IVP test plans. Supervise outside SOW & agency resources as needed. Provide detailed descriptions of work required and monitor progress to keep projects within budget and on schedule.
  • Direct & enable Lead Test Engineer (direct report staff) to participate & lead technical discussions related to concept/planning & design development stages of early product development. Enable expansion of functional & sub-system testing requirements early in the GPD process to mitigate risk during validation.
  • Foster growth of core knowledge & expertise amongst each technical group assigned; ensure proper training & tools are in place to fully enable this.
  • Responsible for the overall quality, reliability, and efficiency of engineering outputs, developing corrective procedures when necessary, and for maintaining an awareness of research, industry trends and developments that may impact their area of expertise.
  • Direct teams to prepare, organize and submit timely and concise reports, which include data reduction and analysis of system/component & vehicle performance, reliability, and durability. Maintain accurate and comprehensive test records for reference and analysis.
  • Communicate timely and effective status to management and platforms on team performance and development & validation activity.
  • Overall responsibility for groups Capital Assets along maintaining and elevating the need to purchase additional equipment needed to support IVP's.

The annual salary for this role is $115,000- $165,000 (Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as skill, experience and qualification for the role.)



Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Agricultural, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering (or related field)
  • 6+ years relevant product development / engineering experience

Preferred:

  • Master's degree in Engineering or Engineering Management
  • Resource management experience with the ability to delegate responsibilities and to match assignments/tasks to skill sets, experience and capacity
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities in building successful teams.
  • Experience in driving change, improvement and organizational development
  • Hands-on experience with Off-Road, Commercial Vehicle or Automotive products.
  • Previous program management experience highly desired.
  • Proficiency in completion of multiple medium to large projects from conception to product release utilizing the Global Product Development Process.
