- Ability to design and teach courses in one or more of the following areas: audio-visual media production, digital and media literacy, educational technology, or instructional design.

- Ability to design and teach undergraduate and graduate courses;

- Ability to foster active learning, collaborative learning, creative production, and critical thinking; and
- Experience using industry-standard equipment, tools, and software in media production (e.g., photography, video, animation, game design).

Description of the Department or Unit |
The Department of Media, Career Studies and Leadership Development is one of five departments in the Reich College of Education, offering programs that prepare students for employment in a wide variety of teaching, administrative and service roles, as well as employment or career advancement in business and industry. The department includes programs in Career and Technical Education; the newly formed Organizational Leadership & Learning program; Media, Technology and Learning Design; Library Science; International Leadership; and School Administration.
The Media, Technology and Learning Design (
MTL) program provides students with a deep foundation in the practice and theory of learning design, technology innovation, learning analytics, creative media production, and critical studies in higher education.
MTL offers a Doctor of Education (EdD) in Educational Leadership, specializing in Instructional Technology Leadership, and a Master's degree (MA) in Media, Technology, and Learning Design with concentrations in Instructional Specialist K-12 Facilitation and Online Design, Communication, and Engagement. Additionally, the program offers a variety of graduate certificates in areas such as Digital Media Literacy; Online Design, Communication and Engagement; and Instructional Technology Facilitation and Leadership. At the undergraduate level,
MTL offers a campus-wide Media Studies Minor and a robust selection of General Education courses. |
Essential Duties and Responsibilities |
Primary responsibilities include teaching four courses per semester (12 hours) across undergraduate and graduate programs in media, technology, and learning design. Other responsibilities include developing and updating curricula and professional service to the University and/or to the public. |

ABD Description |
ABD with reduction in rank and salary:
ABD will be considered for this position. Evidence of successful defense of the dissertation must be received by July 31 for a fall hire or November 30 for a spring hire. If confirmation of defense is not provided by the deadline, the candidate will receive a new one-year fixed-term contract and be hired at the rank of Instructor. The candidate's salary will also be reduced to a lower rate commensurate with other full-time instructors in the same department. However, if degree verification is provided before the end of the one-year fixed-term contract, the candidate will be returned to the rank of assistant professor with commensurate compensation beginning July 1 of the following academic year.
No ABD consideration: Only candidates with an earned doctorate or terminal degree from an accredited institution will be considered for the position. Since
ABD will not meet the minimum requirements,
ABD will not be considered. |
