Desired Skills
- Bachelor's degree in a related discipline preferred; will consider additional years of related experience in lieu of a
degree - 2-5 years of virtualization or virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) build and administration experience preferably in a
Department of Defense (DoD) environment - 2-5 years of experience as a systems administrator/engineer in a medium to large enterprise environment supporting a variety of operating systems
- VMware vSphere 7.x/8.x or VMware Horizon 8.x installation, configuration, security hardening and administration
- Microsoft Windows Server 2016, 2019, Windows 11 installation, configuration and security hardening experience
- Experience hardening Windows 11, to include replicating the Standard Host Baseline (SHB) Process
- Knowledge and experience with Active Directory Domain Services and Group Policy installation, configuration and administration
- Ability to build, execute, and troubleshoot Microsoft PowerShell scripts for diagnostics, repairs or automation
- Self-motivated with the ability to work both independently and in a collaborative environment
- Knowledge of systems engineering activities and process improvement approaches strongly desired
Description
- Supporting the Naval Information Warfare Center Atlantic Commercial Solutions for Classified (CSfC) project by providing architecture, design, and engineering support to Marine Corps Systems Command and the Marine Corps Cyberspace Operations Group for enterprise multi-enclave local and remote connectivity
- Installing, configuring, and administering the virtualization systems (compute, storage, management, networking)
- Designing, implementing and hardening virtualization solutions, including the hypervisor, storage, management and virtual networking components
- Developing and implementing engineering changes to support the lifecycle including engineering documentation
- Performing vulnerability scans of the system and reviewing on a regular basis
- Coordinating among stakeholders, including Security Engineers, Network Administrators, System Administrators, Information Assurance Managers (IAMs) / Information Systems Security Managers (ISSMs), certification authorities, accreditation authorities (and representatives), program managers, vendors, etc., necessary to properly identify, document, mitigate, and manage risk attributed to the target system, network, and/or application
- Identifying, developing (either directly, or in coordination with applicable experts), and incorporating common artifacts found in an RMF accreditation package, e.g., system architecture and boundaries, hardware and software inventories, risk
assessment reports, POA&Ms, data flows, and other necessary system, network, and application documentation - Using vulnerability scanning and assessment tools (e.g., ACAS/HBSS) necessary to identify and document compliance
- Assisting the ISSM/ISSO and system operators with RMF processes and continuous monitoring
- Becoming a subject matter expert in relevant technologies to provide engineering and design guidance to customers and system operators
- Providing assistance to system operators as required and work with vendors to resolve problems
- Automating deployment and configuration using tools such as Ansible and PowerShell
- Independently identifying relevant technologies and developing new skills
- Remaining informed about DoD cyber security policies, processes, and requirements and how they apply to relevant
technologies - Traveling to both CONUS and OCONUS sites for installations, upgrades, and maintenance. (up to 10% travel)
