Summary of Job

The Operations Manager will oversee all daily operations for safety, people development, production, scheduling, and manufacturing within extrusion and converting operations, ensuring policies and procedures are followed. He or she will lead processes that will maximize, safety, quality and productivity, while building strong relationships with the plant employees, customer service and sales. This position will also oversee all Warehouse responsibilities.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

Leadership



  • Attract, hire, retain, develop, and mentor key talent within the plant.
  • Lead and mentor the operations, scheduling, and process teams toward high performance and professional growth.
  • Ownership and implementation of Pregis production system/world class manufacturing processes.
  • Sustain and develop a succession plan within the responsible organization.
  • Drive continuous improvement projects utilizing methodologies of lean/six sigma.
  • Lead cadence of accountability to drive improvement.
  • Manage and ensure employees are compliant with attendance, vacation, FMLA, vacation coverage, and labor time clocks; provide timely approvals.
  • Conduct PMPs with Supervisors and help coordinate new employee PMPs


Safety



  • Keep Safety in the forefront of the team's thinking and approach to work.
  • Lead team in development and conformance to 7-elements of safety program.
  • Ensure all Safety programs are in place and used to achieve safety goals
  • Ownership of compliance to PSM/RMP


Quality



  • Ensure standard work for quality is adhered to and deviations from standard are addressed
  • Ensure process documents are followed by production


Financial Management



  • Understand and own the plant P&L (main drivers behind Controllable / Variable Overhead to meet expected AOP targets). Take necessary action to achieve performance targets
  • Oversight and improvement of plant KPIs including but not limited to material usage variances, labor productivity, and inventory performance.
  • Maintain KPI report and share with the facility
  • Manage or Assist Capital Projects, write CARS for projects, and find resources for projects by facilitating project meetings


Measurements for Success:



  • High levels of employee engagement
  • Operations team will achieve Safety, Quality and Profitability targets
  • Lighthouse/PPS KPI's
  • On-time delivery (OTIF)
  • Material variances and scrap rates will be low and product quality levels high

  • Ability to effectively and respectfully communicate with team and during shift transition


  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, follow standardized work instructions and adhere to safe work practices in a continuous improvement culture.



Environment



  • Exposure to moving equipment
  • Inside work
  • Heat may exceed 90 degrees Fahrenheit
  • Humidity may exceed 80%
  • Noise may exceed 85dB+



Education and Experience



  • Minimum of 10 years in a Manufacturing Leadership Role Required
  • Bachelor's degree in business, operations, engineering, or related field preferred
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements for operating plants
  • Comprehension of P&L and business financials
  • Aptitude for equipment operation, troubleshooting, and problem solving
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Deep understanding of manufacturing and operations processes.
  • Knowledge of SAP and/or other ERP systems is preferred.
  • Analytical skills and the ability to work with data files is a must.
  • Proficient in MS Excel, PowerPoint, Word, SharePoint.
