Job Summary:
This position performs duties relating to the maintenance, coordination, installation and health of the UW- Madison campus security video camera system. This position's work is led by the Director of Security Video Operations under the general supervision of the Planning & Development Captain.
Persons in this position are expected to be capable of performing a variety of work on the security video cameras and systems including daily maintenance, alarm response, integration of new cameras, replacement of old cameras, coordination of construction projects, coordinating with contractors and others regarding security video cameras. Persons in this position must have strong communication skills to work and coordinate with a variety of stakeholders and system users.
Overall, persons in this position perform duties exercising problem solving, initiative, creativity and good judgment. Apply a wide variety of rules, practices and procedural guidelines in the exercise of responsibilities. Operate independently in handling a wide variety of situations. Persons in this position must be able to set priorities to meet the demands of the department including the ability to multi-task. Computer experience using a variety of programs, databases and platforms is required.
This position by nature and location is privy to confidential information and conversations that directly affect various investigations. Persons in this position must maintain confidentiality of all information that relates to any investigations or other confidential events or activities.

Responsibilities:
Performs duties related to the maintenance, coordination, installation, and health of the campus security video camera system.
- 25% Reviews and responds to video alarms including troubleshooting issues and/or submitting appropriate work orders
- 15% Completes firmware updates of all hardware as needed including testing and troubleshooting prior to application
- 10% Coordinates and prioritizes the work of contractors doing maintenance on the video cameras
- 10% Conducts site surveys to determine appropriate video cameras and placements for new construction, remodeling, or video camera additions to existing areas
- 10% Ensures compliance with all campus technical standards and campus video policy
- 15% Completes final installation and set view of new video camera onsite with contractors or related staff
- 15% Required to work special events, emergencies, and/or special assignments as designated by the division

Qualifications:
Required: Strong written and oral communication skills. Ability to problem solve technical issues General computer skills: proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite Strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
Preferred: Experience working with the Axis camera system. Experience working with Milestone. Experience working with camera systems in an operational or technical capacity.
License/Certification:
Required Drivers License - Valid and Meets UW Risk Management Standards
Work Schedule:
In general, the hours will be during business hours Monday-Friday and they will need to meet the needs of the UWPD. Occasional work beyond or outside hours agreed upon may be required during emergencies, special events or as assigned.
