About the role:

In alignment with Clayton Early Learning's mission, the on call substitute teacher is responsible for assisting in the delivery of effective teaching elements and practices within the established program. As directed by the classroom teaching staff, the on call substitute teacher assists in managing the classroom environment and supports in providing quality educational services to students using a basic understanding of teaching practices. This role is on an as needed basis with hours that will shift day to day on the needs of classroom coverage at Clayton.

What we want you to do:

Classroom Management



  • Substitutes in infant/toddler or preschool classrooms as needed in a professional manner by actively participating as a teacher in classrooms as assigned. Relieves teachers for breaks, lunches, trainings, meetings, planning/coaching, and other absences and to maintain ratios.
  • Provides support to classroom teachers in execution of classroom duties and student engagement.
  • Assists in the supervision of 8-16 students with the classroom which may include some students with disabilities and or behavioral difficulties.
  • Follows the Conscious Discipline model for effective teaching and learning.
  • Communicate with the Program Coordinator/Mentor Coaches when issues arrive in the classroom or with the daily schedule.


Compliance



  • Effectively implements Educare's core features within the classroom.
  • Strongly adheres to the NAEYC Code of Ethical Conduct.
  • Maintains proper teaching credentials.


Supportive Classroom Responsibilities



  • Provides routine care for students such as changing diapers or assisting with toileting.
  • Participates in the serving and clean-up of meals and snacks.
  • Eats meals and snacks together "family style" with the students.
  • Administers first aid/CPR when needed.
  • Maintains updated professional skills in child development.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to ensure the quality of Clayton Educare education programs.
  • Prepares action reports and provides them to Nutrition, Health, and wellness specialists as needed



What we are looking for and what you must have:

  • High School diploma required.
  • Must possess a level 2 certification in the PDIS system OR have completed ECE 101 and ECE 103
  • CPR and first aid certification.
  • Universal Precautions certification.
  • Must pass a Colorado Bureau of Investigation and Federal Bureau of Investigation criminal background checks.
  • Strong compassion for children and ability to interact in a positive manner at all times.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to use written and verbal communication skills with students, parents, and other employees.
  • Flexibility to move around the school at a moment's notice to support classrooms.
  • Read and understand written materials and instructions.
  • Apply problem-solving skills to develop effective solutions for issues and challenges.
  • Ability to promptly and diplomatically resolve conflict within the classroom.
  • Must be a team player; willing to ask questions and take direction in the classroom.
  • Remember schedules, programs, policies, and other details, and apply good time management and organization skills
  • Strong compassion for children and ability to interact in a positive manner at all times.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to use written and verbal communication skills with students, parents, and other employees.
  • Flexibility to move around the school at a moment's notice to support classrooms.
  • Read and understand written materials and instructions.
  • Apply problem-solving skills to develop effective solutions for issues and challenges.
  • Ability to promptly and diplomatically resolve conflict within the classroom.
  • Must be a team player; willing to ask questions and take direction in the classroom.
  • Remember schedules, programs, policies, and other details, and apply good time management and organization skills
  • Must not be registered in the National Sex Offender registry.
  • Must have ability to maintain strict confidentiality at all times.
