Job Summary
The AP Staff Accountant will be responsible for supporting and managing all aspects of Under Canvas, Inc. accounts payable, managing relationships with vendors globally, monitoring related internal controls, assisting with the month-end general ledger reconciliations, and perform ad hoc projects.
We prefer this position to be based out of our Belgrade, MT office, but remote is also available.
Responsibilities
- Complete all daily Accounts Payable entries for camp and corporate departments allocating to the correct general ledger account and department.
- Ensure on-time payments of vendor invoices, and research and resolve discrepancies and issues
- Support the accurate and timely closing of the general ledger which includes gathering data required for preparation and posting of journal entries, account reconciliations, and other finance-related tasks
- Maintain accounts payable ledgers by verifying and posting account transactions
- Respond to inquiries from both vendors and employees and resolving issues in a timely manner or properly forward correspondence to others in the accounting department

- Prepare weekly bill payment batches

- Ensure that internal controls are being followed for all areas of accounts payable
- Assist with weekly cash reports and assist the AP Manager with monthly Liquidity reporting
- Manage the team accounting email
- Scan and distribute all incoming mail at the corporate office
- Prepare and distribute weekly and monthly reports
- Assist with the annual 1099 filing process
- Other duties as assigned by management on an as needed basis.

Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of accounts payable experience. Experience in public accounting experience a plus.
- Experience in Sage Intacct or other ERP a plus
- Experience processing 1099s a plus
- Must be reliable, dependable, honest and possess a high degree of integrity
- Excellent organization skills and high attention to detail
- Ability to multi-task and manage time in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Team player attitude and ability to collaborate with other teams inside the organization is a must
- Knowledge of MS Office, particularly Excel
