Role Description

Form Energy is hiring a highly motivated and hands-on team member to participate in electrode slurry mixing and coating operations. This role is a member of our Cathode Team; the Cathode is an enabling component for our low-cost, large-scale, long-duration energy storage product. As part of our Cathode team, you will contribute to formulation and process development for, and characterization of, our next-generation cathode, in collaboration with scientists and engineers on this project. This is an exciting opportunity to learn, grow, and help shape the progress of a fast-moving company with breakthrough technology and an incredible mission!

What you'll do:
  • Perform slurry mixing and coating experiments to optimize the electrode formulation for electrochemical performance and manufacturability

  • Collaborate with the characterization team to streamline characterization of coated electrodes

  • Diligently document mixing and coating development notes and procedures to capture learnings which inform iteratively designed experiments

  • Revise existing, and draft new, work instructions for standard electrode fabrication processes and characterization methods

  • Continuously improve the benchtop mixing and coating processes and offer recommendations for improving the standard operating procedures

  • Complete work on a diverse variety of projects while adhering to schedules and timelines

  • Work closely with scientists and engineers in collaboration with cross-functional members of Form's broader technology teams

What you'll bring:
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with mixing and coating in an industrial or academic environment

  • Demonstrated experience in slurry/ink/powder mixing, wet coating (doctor blade, drawdown, meyer rod, gravure, slot die), or related manufacturing processes

  • Demonstrated experience with material characterization methods (microscopy, mechanical testing, thermal analysis) is a plus

  • Strong sense of patience, diligence, and safety in a fast-paced novel R&D environment

  • Great attention to detail

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills

  • Basic chemical hygiene and safety knowledge

  • Battery experience is not required
