Moog is looking for an Electronics System Engineer to develop Flight Control Computers (FCCs), Actuator Control Units (ACUs), and Motor Control Electronics (MCEs) for primary and secondary flight control systems for military aircraft. Reporting to an Engineering manager, you will have a 9/80 work option with a hybrid work schedule (3 days/week in the office) in Torrance, CA.

As an Electronics System Engineer, you will:

  • Represent Moog as a recognized technical authority and project leader
  • Guide the evolution of the conceptual and detailed design phases through verification and certification
  • Be a technical reference point for internal and external communications
  • Conduct systematic capture, development and documentation of verifiable electronics box level requirements that acknowledges technical, schedule, and cost constraints through consulting with customers, staff and sales personnel
  • Conduct functional analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate systems requirements allocated to electronics into electronic hardware specifications. Communicate these internal design requirements to the other members of the design team
  • Create detailed Verification and Validation plans and procedures for testing electronic boxes. Investigate and create new test methods and approaches.
  • Conduct hardware and software level integration and test including any performance anomalies investigations
  • Create concise reports that document the design decisions and analysis results.
  • Support aspects of technical project planning, including designs, proposals, cost estimates, schedules and technical interface meetings throughout the program lifecycle
  • Make presentations to customers to support design reviews and technical interface meetings.
  • Support project status briefings with clear reports and presentations
  • Contribute to the development of new product requirements through consulting with customers and sales personnel
  • Represent Moog in a manner consistent with its leading-edge technical reputation
  • Support programs with some travel (5-10%) and the participation in presentations to customers

To be considered for this role, here's what you'll need to bring with you:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Minimum 4+ years of professional design and development engineering work experience; 2+ years of those should be in the design, analysis and development of electromechanical systems or components
  • 2+ years of project/team leadership experience

This position requires access to United States export-controlled information.

It'd be great if you also had:

  • MS Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Experience in the aerospace industry
  • Experience in the design, analysis and development of aircraft actuation controllers
  • Experience with requirement flow down
  • Experience with actuator sensor interfaces
  • Experience with military standards (MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-704, MIL-STD-810, and RTCA/DO-254 standards),
  • Experience with Qualification and Certification
  • Team-oriented, with the desire to lead and contribute to a high functioning team

Salary Range Transparency:

Torrance, CA $95,000.00-$130,000.00 Annually

The base salary range represents the low and high end of the Moog salary range for this position in the given work location. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range(s) listed is just one component of Moog's total compensation package for employees.
