Description
The Product Manager is responsible for providing leadership and create direction on product line lifecycle, price and position analysis; and provide recommendations to commercial teams to maximize market share, profit and revenue across assigned products. This role reports to the Product Management Director, collaborates with Sales and Marketing Managers, interfaces with the production site teams, and manages projects within the R&D team.

The Product Manager drives growth across product lines (existing and new offerings), executes the market development and sales plan, and works closely with customers. The Product Manager develops & administers pricing and channel strategies that drive growth and profitability. The Product Manager employs questioning strategies that develop a deep understanding of the customers' business and uncover elements of value. Expected outcomes include growth, resonating value benefits, and applied knowledge of relevant markets.

Role Specific Responsibilities:
Product Management
  • Develop and maintain a global product portfolio that supports the market and customer penetration objectives of the global sales team. This includes: Product pricing and margin maintenance; Life cycle planning for enhancement and obsolescence; Product forecasts, inventory guidance and cost targets.

Project Management
  • Facilitate milestone completion within project teams, including regulatory, EHS, R&D, supply chain, operations, marketing, and sales.
  • Coordinate resources to ensure that projects adhere to scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Provide communication and contact on project status and changes.

New Product Development
  • Achieve vitality index goals (GM dollars associated with new products).
  • Create technical data sheets (TDS) for new products.
  • Create & update product Capability Differentiator Benefit (CDB) documents that align internal teams (sales, marketing, R&D) on the primary aspects of customer value.
  • Create product roadmaps that define development opportunities and build a robust funnel of prospective new investment projects in both existing and new markets.

Sales
  • Review & respond to quote requests that escalate from sales teams.
  • Review & respond to Salesforce call-reports.
  • Develop high, wide and deep relationships with key customers and industry players to gain firsthand understanding of customer and market situations.
  • Understand the unique capabilities, differentiators and benefits that enable Aurorium to create value for target customers. Build economic value estimates to clearly articulate the positive economic impact for the customer.

Pricing
  • Build, manage, and monitor product pricing strategies that reflect value created for the customer, in both contract (formula) and non-contract (spot) price contexts.
  • Ensure consistency across outside sales, inside sales, and marketing teams.
  • Create tools and policies to facilitate efficient RFQ responses.

Data Analytics
  • Leverage various internal data sources across multiple ERP systems.
  • Monitor product costs. Work with site, supply chain, and sales teams to mitigate impact.
  • Review reports for gaps in price and volume and margin outliers.

SAP Item Master
  • Initiate new item creation workflows and track progression through various functions.
  • Assign and manage product hierarchy, maintaining consistency across platforms.

Compliance:
  • Complies with company Health, Safety and Environmental policies, procedures, and arrangements
  • Reports all Health, Safety and Environmental accidents, incidents and near misses promptly
  • Acts in a safe and responsible manner at all times

  • Active participation in continuous improvement activities
  • Participates in problem-solving
  • Takes responsibility and ownership for own learning and development in the spirit of continuous improvement of both self and the business
  • Assists in the training, mentoring, and assessment of other team members

Qualifications/Desired Skills

Education and Qualifications:
  • BS in either Business or Technical Field (Chemistry, Engineering). MBA preferred.

Experience & Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • 3-10 Years of experience in Product Management or relevant commercial roles in business development and marketing.
    • B2B markets, including chemicals, biotech, pharmaceutical, personal care and/or semiconductor industries
    • Multi-national companies

    • Developing & executing growth plans

  • Ready to travel 10-25%
  • Strong customer prospecting skills with ability to identify customer needs
  • Strong sales negotiation skills & open-ended questioning skills
  • Ability to develop strong working relationships with external and internal customers
  • Enterprise tools including Salesforce, PowerBI, & SAP
  • Excellent organizational skills and analytical capabilities
  • Bias for action and results oriented
  • Must be a self-starter and able to operate with limited supervision
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills including formal presentation skills before both small and large groups
