Manager, Audiovisual

The Audiovisual Manager is responsible for guiding technology development in conference rooms across RAND's U.S. locations. The position is also responsible for daily supervision of AV staff that support webinars, videoconferences, audio conferencing, and special events at all RAND U.S. offices.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Works with multiple stakeholders to develop RAND's AV technology strategy, defining needs and providing project management for conference room installations. Acts as technical liaison with IS department.

  • Prepares forecasts and budgets for technology-related capital projects. Provides input to yearly budget for AV equipment and expenses.

  • Provides guidance and expertise in Hybrid Video Teleconferencing (Teams, Zoom) strategies and cloud-based solutions.

  • Acts as technology lead in defining AV cross-site purchasing, maintaining consistency in product selection, equipment installation, and user interface. Oversees equipment installations across locations.

  • Stays abreast of audiovisual and collaboration technologies and evaluates appropriateness for RAND and RAND's institutional priorities and introduces new ideas to AV team.

  • Communicates clearly and often with Conference Services Director on all aspects of personnel, procedures, purchasing, strategy, and other departmental concerns.

  • Supervises AV Leads and Techs who provide daily AV support of webinars, videoconferences, presentation and audio support for meetings and special events.

  • Develops policies and processes for AV team to provide timely, high-quality service, updates policies and procedures where needed and trains new and existing staff on policies and procedures.

  • In conjunction with Conference Services Director, determines staff level, interviews/hires new employees, ensures appropriate training, and conducts performance reviews.

  • Develops and maintains procedures for technical-issue reporting, troubleshooting and maintenance.

  • Manages time responsibly, allocating tasks to team and self, based on department priorities, organizational needs, and employee skill level.

  • Handles complex meeting planning, defining appropriate technology, budget, staff assignments and final execution.

  • Works with Conference Services Director on a variety of projects and duties

  • Direct multiple service contractors for small- and large-scale events.

  • Oversees external AV vendors who provide maintenance and installation support.

  • Collects, develops, and maintains department metrics and develops procedures to ensure quality, service, and solutions across all aspects of audiovisual services.

  • Leads continuous improvement process efforts to refine and improve internal procedures.

Qualifications

  • CTS and CISCO CCNA Certifications preferred.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Working knowledge of AV control systems (Crestron, Extron, AMX), Dante, AVB, and Network topologies.

  • Thorough working knowledge of the operation, troubleshooting and maintenance of audio, projection, display, PTZ cameras, and Video Conferencing systems.

  • Experience in large-scale AV project management and installations

  • Experience producing technical aspects of high-level events.

  • Experience working on live events.

  • Experience in Legacy H.323 VTC systems and new collaboration and hybrid platform deployment on Windows and Android (Teams Rooms, Zoom Rooms, Cisco WebEx)

  • Good organizational skills and attention to details

Education Requirements

  • Minimum: High School or GED equivalency

  • Preferred: BS/BA

Experience

  • 6 years minimum experience

Security clearance

  • Current possession of a U.S. security clearance, or the ability to obtain a U.S. security clearance, is required.

Salary Range:$102,800- $156,500

RAND considers a variety of factors when formulating an offer, including but not limited to, the specific role and associated responsibilities; a candidate's work experience, education/training, skills, expertise; and internal equity.Successful candidates will be offered employment in a specific title, as determined by the candidate's education and experience. The salary range includes base pay plus RAND's sabbatic pay (which provides additional compensation above base pay when vacation is taken).
