Mechanic Key Responsibilities: Responsible for the maintenance, repair, and inspection of rental equipment to ensure safety, reliability, and optimal performance. This role plays a crucial part in minimizing equipment downtime and enhancing customer satisfaction by ensuring all machinery is in excellent working condition. Equipment Maintenance and Repair: Perform routine maintenance on rental equipment, including engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems. Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues in various types of equipment, such as forklifts, generators, earth moving, concrete equipment, and small home improvement and lawn and garden tools. Conduct repairs and replace worn or damaged parts as needed. Other tasks as required. Inspection and Safety: Conduct thorough inspections of equipment to ensure compliance with safety standards. Perform pre-rental inspections to assess equipment condition and readiness for rental. Ensure all maintenance records and repair logs are accurately documented. Inventory Management: Maintain an organized workshop and manage tools and spare parts inventory. Order and track necessary parts and supplies for repairs and maintenance. Customer Support: Assist in addressing customer inquiries regarding equipment operation and maintenance. Provide guidance to customers on proper use and care of rented equipment. Collaboration: Work closely with the rental team to ensure timely turnaround of equipment for rental. Communicate effectively with management regarding repair needs and equipment performance. Safety and Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines in the workshop and while servicing equipment. Stay updated on industry standards and regulations related to equipment maintenance and safety. Skills: Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills. Knowledge of various types of rental equipment and their components. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Basic computer skills for maintaining records and ordering parts. Working Conditions: Physically demanding role requiring lifting and moving equipment. Work is primarily conducted in a workshop environment, with potential outdoor work. May require overtime during peak rental seasons or for urgent repairs. This role is vital for ensuring that all rental equipment is safe and functional, ultimately contributing to the success of the business and satisfaction of its customers. Qualifications: Education: High school diploma or equivalent; certification in automotive or diesel mechanics preferred.
