Job Summary:

The Senior File Transfer Engineer is responsible for ensuring secure, efficient, and compliant data exchanges through the management of file transfer systems, including Managed File Transfer (MFT) platforms such as MOVEit.

This position ensures critical data transfers are secure, compliant, and efficient, supporting seamless operations and continuous improvement across the organization.

This role includes system administration, process optimization, troubleshooting, and collaboration with cross-functional IT teams. The Administrator will document procedures, monitor performance, report and support incident response to ensure reliable and secure file transfer operations.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Administer, manage, and configure MFT platform and file transfer protocols (e.g., SFTP, FTPS, AS2).
  • Manage user roles, permissions and access control to ensure secure and compliant file transfer operations.
  • Proactively monitor systems, optimize performance, manage schedules, and maintain logs. Implement encryption and security settings; ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Adhere to and enforce compliance with industry regulations and data protection standards.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues related to file transfers including connectivity and protocol issues, and support users.
  • Manage incident response related to file transfer systems, coordinating with IT and business teams as necessary.
  • Ensure timely updates, system patches, and assist with migrations.
  • Evaluate system performance and implement best practices.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for all file transfer systems, including configuration and support parameters and troubleshooting steps.
  • Design automated workflows. Ensure proper backup of transferred files, including critical data that may need to be restored in case of system failure.
  • Maintain disaster recovery plans and backup processes and generate compliance reports.
  • Work with network and security teams for seamless integration.
  • Work with end users and customers to set up secure and reliable file transfers.
  • Provide training and guidance to junior administrators, end-users and customers on file transfer systems and best practices.


Qualifications:

Education & Experience:



  • Bachelor's in IT or related field
  • 7 to 10 years in file transfer administration including MOVEit.


Technical Skills:



  • Proficient in MFT protocols, security standards, and scripting.


Soft Skills:



  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.


Additional Requirements:



  • Deep working knowledge and experience with Secure MFT software MOVEit required.
  • Must be available for on-call support and to work outside normal business hours as needed.

  • Fast paced, requires confidentiality, off-hours work, and may involve occasional travel.
