Under the general supervision of the Laboratory Manager and Service Chiefs, provide technical support for the Immunology and Virology laboratories. Responsibilities include sample handling and preparation, logging of specimens, organization of work flow, immunological testing by various methods including latex agglutination, western blot analysis, radial immunodiffusion, fluorescent antibody testing, cell culture, test development and processing samples to send to other laboratories.
RECRUITMENT PERIOD ONE MONTH: Applicants will be screened after two weeks; and then on a weekly basis. The position can be filled prior to the apply by date.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position
- No license requirement.
- No educational requirement.
- Experience using a fluorescent microscope to observe and interpret fluorescent stains.
- Experience calculating dilutions and preparing solutions.
- Experience with the propagation and maintenance of mammalian cell cultures in vitro and in frozen condition using sterile techniques for use in the Virology laboratory.
- Knowledge of immunological principles, antigen antibody reactions and the skill to interpret what specific titers mean.
- Oral and written communication and interpersonal skills and diplomacy to interact with a diverse group of people: faculty, clients, residents, students, and staff regarding Immunology/Virology.
- Ability to be flexible and handle several tasks simultaneously. This includes the ability to organize and prioritize the workload requirements as necessary.
- Knowledge of safe laboratory practices to include infection control, handling of potentially hazardous biological specimens and proper disposal of chemical and biological waste.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a laminar flow biological hood and at maintaining a sterile environment with respect to the growth of cell cultures.
- Experience with UC data systems such as, but not limited to, Veterinary Information Portal and Educational Resources (VIPER), Veterinary Medical & Administrative Computer System (VMACS), Infoshare, and Laboratory Information System (LIS).
- Experience with the structure and function of the VMTH Diagnostic Laboratories.
- Experience with UC Davis, UCOP, and the VMTH staff policy and procedures.

Work Environment
