The opportunity

Student Involvement/Student Affairs Staff Assistants provide high-quality customer service to the Southern New Hampshire University community. General duties include clerical task such as filing, scheduling meetings, answering calls and assisting students and staff who frequent the office. Employees must, on occasion, be willing to work flexible hours, late nights and weekends. This position also supports the Office of Student Involvement and Office of Student Affairs in general, and employees may participate in special projects as assigned. Our student employees are essential in helping us build community and support others finding a sense of belonging at SNHU and getting students involved is essential to this mission. We look to hire students who demonstrate integrity.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Greet visitors to the office and assist them with requests and questions
  • Support staff appointments and scheduling through the use of Microsoft Outlook
  • Assist with all clerical duties to include answering the telephone, transferring calls, managing shared email inboxes, scanning and filing documents, sorting mail, message taking, data input, copying, filing etc.
  • Assist with large departmental projects and programs throughout the year to include Orientation, Opening Weekend and Homecoming Weekend
  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • Provide world class customer service
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work independently in difficult situations with little supervision
  • Maintain a positive attitude during all shifts and be a role model for colleagues
  • Arrive at all shifts on-time and stay until the end of the shift
  • Wear appropriately designated and provided attire
  • Must be committed to creating and supporting an inclusive community
  • Attend monthly staff meeting with supervisor and employee appreciation events
  • Confidentiality is of utmost importance and students are trained with this in mind

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be a full time enrolled student in an Undergraduate Day or Graduate Day Program
  • Must be comfortable answering telephones, directing phone calls, and taking messages
  • Effective evidence of strong oral and written communication skills, an ability to work independently
  • Flexibility, creativity, maturity in judgement, and ability to work with a variety of constituents are also important in this role
  • This position is available for Work Study students only

Compensation

The hourly pay range for this position is $12.00 - $15.00. Actual offer will be based on skills, qualifications, experience and internal equity, in addition to relevant business considerations.
