Your day as a Rental Equipment Mechanic (Level 2)
As a new Rental Equipment Mechanic (Level 2) at Tejas Equipment Rental, you can expect a dynamic and engaging daily routine. Your primary responsibilities will include performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairing a variety of rental equipment, ensuring optimal performance for our customers. You'll work closely with a team of skilled mechanics, sharing knowledge and techniques while adhering to strict safety protocols.

Your day will begin with a team briefing, during which you'll prioritize tasks and discuss any ongoing projects. Following that, you will systematically inspect equipment, identify issues, and carry out repairs or adjustments. Expect to engage in hands-on work with diverse machinery, learning new skills and techniques along the way.

Your schedule will be Monday through Friday, with rotating Saturdays to accommodate customer demands, providing a balanced workweek while keeping your skills sharp.

Additionally, a basic understanding of diagnostic software, such as fault code readers, along with general knowledge of mini skid steers, trailers, aerial lifts, and safety procedures compliant with OSHA regulations, will enhance your capability to maintain equipment excellence.

Knowledge and skills required for the position are:

Diagnostics and Troubleshooting:

Ability to diagnose common mechanical
electrical
and hydraulic issues using diagnostic tools and equipment.
Familiarity with small engine and diesel engine systems.
Repairs and Maintenance:
Proficient in conducting repairs on a wide range of rental equipment
such as skid steers
mini excavators
compactors
and small tools.
Capable of performing preventative maintenance (e.g.
oil changes
filter replacements
and lubrication).
Ability to repair or replace basic hydraulic and electrical components.
Technology: Basic understanding of diagnostic software and tools (e.g.
fault code readers).
General knowledge of rental equipment
including:
Mini skid steers
trailers
aerial lifts
and other small to mid-sized machinery.
Proper maintenance schedules and procedures for commonly used equipment.
Understanding of workplace safety procedures and compliance with OSHA regulations.
