Delaware's Largest Cancer Treatment Group- Medical Oncology Hematology Consultants, Newark & Middletown, DE We are a private practice comprised of 11 physicians and 10 APPs. Our mission is to provide quality cancer care to the patients in our local community. We are affiliated with the US Oncology Network, which is one of the nation's largest networks of integrated, community-based oncology practices that are dedicated to advancing high-quality, evidence-based cancer care. Our board-certified physicians in Hematology and Medical Oncology, Palliative Care Medicine, and breast surgery have trained and held faculty positions in nationally and internationally recognized academic centers. Our physicians have extensive experience in the diagnosis and treatment of malignant diseases and disorders of the blood and breast. We have an immediate opening for a Lead Pharm Tech. SCOPE: Under minimum supervision of a registered pharmacist working within a licensed pharmacy, oversees the pharmacy operations and actions of Pharmacy Technicians in all technical, nonjudgemental aspects of medication preparation, distribution, record keeping and inventory control. Assists in the implementation of departmental policies and procedures. Assists in the development, implementation, and review of quality assurance and safety policies and procedures. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards. Responsibilities ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: -Oversees the activities of other Pharmacy Technicians and nursing staff in the preparation, admixture, dosage calculation, and verification of all medication orders. -Supervises documentation and dissemination of drug information, MSDS sheets, and related materials. -Ensures the correct storage and disposal of all medications. -Ensures the proper cleaning and maintenance of I.V. hoods and other equipment. -Assists in the development and implementation of departmental goals and objectives in consultation with the supervisor. -Monitors and informs pharmacy staff of new drug regulations. -Acts as a resource on charging and billing procedures. -Under the direction of a licensed pharmacist, assumes responsibility for dispensing all medications at site clinic and acts as resource for all sites. -Assists in the implementation of drug control procedures for all sites of service. -Takes corrective action as necessary. -Participates in the selection and training/orientation of departmental staff. -Maintains responsibility for hiring, termination, and performance review of staff. -Ensures proper training of all Pharmacy Technicians and assists in the yearly clinical certification of all RNs to establish clinical knowledge and ability regarding admixture technique and protocols. -Supervises pharmacy inventory controls, assuring proper inventory levels, pricing, drug outages, recalls, etc. -Assists in ensuring compliance with accreditation, quality assurance, legal and other regulatory requirements. -Acts as an educational resource for Pharmacy Technicians and other professional staff. -Participates in pharmacy teaching and in-service programs. -Collects data, prepares reports, answers correspondence, and compiles statistics for administrative, financial and regulatory purposes. -Receives new drug education to remain abreast of new information and informs pharmacy and clinical staff. -Maintains confidentially of all information related to patients and medical and clinical staff. -Oversees the daily activities of Pharmacy Technicians. Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma or equivalent required. Certification from accredited Pharmacy Technician school. Minimum seven years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician. Oncology background preferred. Prior supervisory experience preferred. Must possess Pharmacy Technician certification from an accredited school.
